The movie Passion of the Soul has four parts. All named "Passion of the Soul". Passion of the soul 1 - 4.
Frank Rajah Arase
Ibrahim Adam, Mustapha Adam
2008
-Story: [3 out of 5] It’s a beautiful feel good movie that does not require you to activate your brain whilst watching it necessarily. In fact, it’s best if you don’t bring your brain along whilst watching it because if you do then you catch yourself constantly saying “What are the odds of this happening in real life?” Which kind of takes away from the joy of the movie.
-Originality: [1 out of 5] Same story, different (longer) approach. The end of the movie (with the whole heart transplant and what not) began to feel a little like Denzel Washington’s 2002 flick “John Q“. And the rest basically fell like everyother Om Puri movie…. what am I even saying? Why am I travelling? The whole “father does not want daughter to marry poor man because he wants him to marry his rich friends equally rich and successful son” is the storyline to every pre-2002 Nollywood movie with the usual duets and the usual evils (Duets: Females: Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Rita Dominic, Rita Nzelu, Maureen Solomon etc. Males: Muna Obiekwe, Muna Obiekwe, Muna obiekwe lol, Emeka Enyiocha, Emeka Ike, Tony Umez, Pat Attah, Ramsey Noah, Desmond Elliot) (and the usual evils: Pete Edochie, Pete Edochie, Pete Edochie lol, Patience Ozokwor, Ashley Nwosu, Alex Usifo) notice how Patience is the only female? I felt tempted to add Kanayo to the list but… he is too busy doing rituals!
-Predictability: [1 out of 5] The end was definitely a given from on your mark, set,, go… but all the wuru wuru the movie makers did before they reached the end was not exactly something you could have seen coming
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Nicely done except… did the movie really need to be that long?
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] Standout performance: Majid Michel. It’s not today that that guy started acting well. Love! Love! Love! Majid. Standout character: The fat guy ‘roger‘ who died after the 1st part of the movie. I felt like Jackie Appiah was forcing it too much. Her acting did not always seem natural. Everyone else was placid.
-Setting: [4 out of 5] Aaaaamazing! Accuse Frank Rajah of what you may but when it comes to elegance and extravagance on set… the guy is never found lacking
-Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Props and Graphics: [4 out of 5] On Point (help me see cars though!!!!)
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Ok for a 2008 movie
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Some random ups and downs
-Soundtrack: [4 out of 5] Superb! Austin Erowele at his absolute best. All three soundtracks (Titi Titi, Let the mountains, and always love you) are posted above this review.
-Musical Score: [4 out of 5] Amazing
