After the disappointment of recent movies releases, this movie is a cool balm for any disappointed Nollywood fans. It’s funny, very interesting and definitely puts a shiny beautiful gloss on an old played out trope.
The old con girls try to trick men for money is so overused it but in this movie it was presented quite beautifully. The characters were interesting and humorous, the situations and scenes were very well played out and the ending is oh so satisfying. The characters also develop and grow as actual good characters should. It was six parts but not once are you bored, tired or fatigued. Despite the length, it has a very high rewatchability value and it would be funny every time. There were some scenes that went on for longer than it could be but it is not as bad. Nonetheless it was innovative, everyone ot their comeuppance in a way that wasn’t too oppressive neither was it too benevolent.
Nse Ike-Etim is a phenomenal actress, and the wealth of talent she brought to this role was mind-blowing. Her accent is hilarious and she definitely took the centre spot in this role. Queen Nwokoye was a different -but not worse- type of funny and she was a joy to watch. Funke Akindele gave a good performance, this is the type of films she should be in rather than all those runs girls films populated by starlets and newbies-sophisticated versions of the original. All in all the acting was great, and both Michael Zubby and Emeka Amakeze are both coming into their own. There wasn’t one actor out of line and they were all beyond average.
The sets were good, the wardrobe was lovely. However the picture quality really let this down and the audio wasn’t that much better. Had this been in HD and clear enough, it would have been even better. The little touches lent this movie more authenticity and makes rewatching a joy including gags with clothing and makeup. There were so mistakes- It is jarring to see someone stick a styled and obviously dry weave under a hair dryer.
In conclusion, I fail to find enough words to praise this. I encourage watching and rewatching this film again and again. Each of its six parts marries beautifully into each other, and instead of becoming a negative become a positive. I am actively trying to find something negative to say but I can’t find any.
Alrighty thnks, im actually watching all the way from Kenya. We love your movies, we even have 5hours time of your movies in the 3 major stations.
Hey, so there was that guy in the hotel room scene. Whats his name? The guy with queen.
I can’t really remember but he is up and coming so I bet you will see him in more films. Thanks for reading..
Great movie I relay loved this,my favourite actresses in this movie, and a great director
I thought the movie was very boring? and i wasnt impressed with the acting even though the actors are very good actors! Must just be me then
Maybe it could have been the length? Six parts is a lot. And I agree some scenes were a little overplayed.
FYI – the RealNolly TV version has scenes left out of the second part, which is “Unbeatable Liars 1”. XNolly TV has the complete version of “Unbeatable Liars 1”. I just discovered this today.
Whoa…I had no idea. I did watch the XNolly version simply because it was clearer.
Let me just say that this is one of the best movies I have seen this year! I was glued to my seat from start to finish as Cleo, Alice, and Shania create more Wahala than one can imagine. At first I thought “Oh my god, NOT 6 parts”, but. I guarantee anyone who watches this that you will be intrigued by the story, as there are so many twists and turns to the initial plot, as in my viewe, the story is well written, with no dull moment. I thought the acting was superb (okay, so Nse’s accent was a bit annoying at times – a cross between American valley girl speak, British, with a hint of Nigerian). Nse brought it, and Queen Nwokoye in my opinion added through her character the extra spice that was hilarious. Funke – what can I say – always with extra flavor. I will say that I think Funke is very versatile when given the opportunity. If you have seen her in Tunde Kelani’s “Maami”, I think one would agree. One of my favorite scenes in this movie is at Ikem’s Compound. Zubby Michael as Ikem was intense and kept the suspense going – great acting. I have been watching Emeka Amakeze in both his older Nollywood films, and newer ones, and I think he to is a great actor. The thing about this movie is that there are profound lessons presented for all to pay attention to. Yet another reason why I enjoyed it and highly recommend it to viewers.
