A little more than a year ago, we announced that nollywood finally has a reputable and public box office reporting system in this post. Why is this a big deal? This means that no longer do we have to take producers and distribution companies at their word when they make claims like “highest grossing nollywood movie of all time” and “biggest film in Africa”. Now we can actually cross check this information with an independent body.
It is thanks to this same resource that we also now have available information on the biggest winners at the box office in this past year. The list is below in descending order of highest earnings, date of release, along with the films gross earnings for the year 2019.
