No clear direction
You will walk out of this movie wondering what just happened? And I do not intend that in the ‘inception’ sense of the phrase. I mean legitimately, if you make it to the end of this movie, you will wonder what kind of spirit possessed you to keep pressing on till the end.
Eight is the story of two couples and the people that surround them. Annie Idibia’s character is married to a seemingly faithful Christian husband who is actually sleeping with her sister. Tana Adelana’s character was recently engaged to the character played by Anthony Monjaro who also hides a dirty little secret.
All these secrets come to the surface really early in the movie. When they are first brought up, the viewer is not yet in an emotional place to care about the magnanimity (or mostly lack thereof) of the secrets. So you expect that eventually the weight of the secrets will come up but it never does, instead the story takes a whole different direction towards the end.
And I will have you know, that this description of this movie is way more organized and thought out than the actual presentation in the movie. These revelations of secrets and interactions among characters in the movie is done amidst a world of choatic scenes. To be quite honest, if my hands were not otherwise preoccupied while watching this movie (I need you to take your head out of the gutter please) I would have quit after the first 10 minutes.
The movie was all over the place with no clear direction. The acting was all round questionable, even proficient actors within the frame of this movie had me questioning their talent.
