More details required to elevate the movie
3 is company is a cozy little story about a couple (Yvonne Jegede & O.C. Ukeje) and the husband’s best friend (Wale Ojo) who share a heartwarming bond until the best friend falls for the wife’s worst enemy. Said ‘worst enemy’, played by Peggy Ovire, is a colleague of the wife and meets the best friend at work where she agrees to date him simply to spite her colleague. All this until things turn serious.
The storyline of the movie is simple, endearing and easy to follow. It is a joy that the premise of the movie is based on the best friend falling for the wife’s worst enemy as opposed to the usual nollywood storyline of falling for his best friend’s wife. However, the one pitfall is that by the end of the movie you are waiting to find out what the reason is for the hatred and ire between both employees, and in the end it is nothing really concrete.
If you’ve seen any of the recent Yvonne Jegede movies, you’ll notice her tendency for a lot of gra-gra, so starting this movie, my one hope was to see Yvonne in a different light and to see a softer less confontational/in-your-face side. Even though we did get this in some parts of the movie, in many parts it was still the usual Yvonne. Now, don’t get me wrong, like everyone else in this movie Yvonne did a beautiful job of portraying her character.
Peggy Ovire who plays the ‘evil office witch’ in this movie did an okay job but it seemed like she was mirroring the gra-gra energy of Yvonne so both of them together were just causing a war on screen.
Though the story is endearing and the performances were above par most of the time especially from O.C and Wole, the movie still did not attain the heights it could have. Better construction and more details are necessary to elevate it from a bedside story to an unforgettable flick.
