Production quality and performances
It’s almost an inseperable association at this point that all movies with Nuella Njubigbo are directed by Tchidi Chikere and that movies directed by Tchidi Chikere star Nuella Njubigbo.
Seed of Love tells the story of how a woman who escapes a childless and abusive marriage finds herself entangled in a new love story with a widower and father of one. However, the two may have more in common than they would have initially guessed.
These two are played by Francis Duru and Nuella Njubigbo and I may have seen this before but this movie reminds you how comical it is to watch Francis Duru romancing. It’s a different class of romance on its own. The ex is played by Bolanle Ninalowo and as far as the main cast goes, they do a fair enough job supporting the movie. Then there is the issue of the supporting cast and the child actor, who all cannot seem to get past reciting their lines on screen.
This movie is touted as being produced and created in 2016 but from the minute you hit play the entire presentation comes off as something made in 2001 (not even 2008). Then there are the flashbacks within the movie to “9 years earlier” where Bolanle’s character has what looks like a Blackberry Z10. Which is all well and good except that 9 years earlier was 2007 and the first Z-10 didn’t come out until 2013.
All in all, “Seed of Love” is an ok watch. It does not manage to capture many feelings but at least it has a happy ending.
