Not original storyline
When a film is unoriginal, it can only be good by doing one of two things: presenting it in a totally new and original manner or introducing completely new dimensions to a well-known story. Otherwise, it’s just a newer, better-shot version of the same old thing, and that is boring. Here, they have a slightly novel take on the tired old classic; enough to pique the interest but not enough to stop it from getting boring.
Again, it’s not a very original story, Dise has to pretend to be her sister while falling in love with her twin sister’s husband, but it is presented well. It is engaging and the characters are pretty likeable and you want to see how it all ends. On the other hand, the pacing is a bit off and the time jumps are crazy. Sometimes it gets hard to suspend disbelief- what man doesn’t know his wife especially as they are both different in characters, what kind of parents? What I really liked about this storyline was that it showed the consequences of pretending to be your sister, not a lot of movies go into that depth.
The acting was top notch, Majid Michel always delivers and Mbong Amata was very convincing as two people. Diana Yekini was really impressive; she brought a whole new type of energy to the role. The other supporting cast, exempting IK Ogbonna , were not as impressive and sometimes underwhelming. It wasn’t as tight as it could be.
The visuals were of a superior quality, but there was a very heavy downside to its high definition. Every single bead of sweat, every one, showed on screen which did not make very pleasant watching. The audio was crisp and clear and the soundtrack was good.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this movie. It is in no way original or realistic but it makes for an entertaining watch. By the way, am I the only one that thinks Majid should cool it with these tricked husband roles? Haba, they are becoming too much (see “Being Mrs. Elliott“)
I completely agree mimi. loool and yess Majid!
