Izu Ojukwu
-Story: [4 out of 5] In case anyone did not notice in the beginning that I said that this movie was directed by Izu Ojukwu. Well that alone tells you that the story is amazing.
-Originality: [4 out of 5] If there’s anything I can vouch for about Izu Ojukwu’s stories it’s their originality as well as the attention to detail. Since the days of Sitanda and way past the times Alero’s symphony, I’ll keep being a die-hard Izu fan.
-Predictability: [5 out of 5] I love how Izu did this movie in that the story wants you to believe this person is the child however in the back of your mind you know the other guy is the child but in the end it’s someone totally different. You just sit there racking your brain and wondering but it’s worth it.
-Directing/Editing: [5 out of 5] Two Words: Izu Ojukwu. Enough said. But you know I must add more. Regularly, when a Nigerian director is directing a movie and they have a battle scene what they do is they show you the scene where the actors leave for the battle and the scene when they return. Most do not dare show you the scene of the actual battle, but then again they are not Izu Ojukwu. In the holy grail of Nollywood Directors, I must say Izu Ojukwu definitely is on top of the list.
-Acting quality: [4 out of 5] I am always blown away by the quality of actors and actresses produced by AMBO and I absolutely love Wole Ojo in this movie however, the acting of the chief priestess’ apprentice does not sit well with me. Besides her everyone was amazing
-Setting and Costume: [5 out of 5] Traditional movie, so traditional outfits. I loved Joke’s crown in the movie
-Video and Audio Quality [5 out of 5] If I did not know that Izu normally has this tint to his video where he does not make the video extra clear but has it fade in a way. I’d have scored it down but come to think of it, there are some movies that do better in normal faded lighting as opposed to sharp i’m-so-clear-i-can-even-see-your-pimples lighting
-Soundtrack [5 out of 5] The local sounds were great.
In my opinion, Nigeria has produced a lot of talented producers and directors but all of them combined don’t come close to Izu. Imagine if he is doing this with so few resources, if he was in Hollywood then his works would all be combined geniuses.
Abi oh! I have been looking for it for a really long time too. I watched it in my cousins house, where she got it, I don’t know? Don’t ask, don’t tell ni
Please where did you watch this movie? I have been searching endlessly for it. Do let me know. Thanks in advance.
Oh, I saw this back in Nigeria. It was a family member’s copy sorry. AMBO movies really have poor distribution though, especially in the diaspora
i am glad u are one of the few that celebrate izu because he is so underrated, our people choose to more or so celebrate the average directors,by the way how did u get to watch the child,i having been looking for it for ages.
