Dangerous Maiden
Nollywood REinvented
Ali Nuhu, Barbara Ukattah, Gavivina Tamakloe, Joyce Kalu, Jude Okorah, Junior Pope, Rita Dominic
-Story: [0 out of 5] It was not a mind blowing story, not inspiring, not anything. Sort of just there and not original but it was not terrible.
-Originality: [1 out of 5] It is not a very original movie, it partially reminds me of the movie ‘The Maid’ starring Mercy Johnson or ‘Corporate Maid’ starring the same Mercy Johnson. Basically the same frame work going on.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] Definitely predictable, from beginning to end.
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] I was very ok with the directing and editing in this movie until the ending parts. The king is decaying whilst he is still alive on the left side of his body. So you have mould growing on the left side and his white vest is also moldy and dirty. Then the pastor comes and prays and God works a miracle and the King is healed. Alright, I get that. But what I don’t get is how the king’s vest turned white too when the king got healed. I mean, last I checked God was a miracle worker, not a dry-cleaner.
–Acting quality: [2 out of 5] We are always advocating the introduction of new characters into the Nollywood industry but when most people say it they usually mean the introduction of new YOUNG characters. No one ever thinks of the old characters, the ones that play our queens, our mothers, our sugar-mamas, and our witch mothers (God forbid). However, when I was watching this movie I realized that three years ago Joyce Kalu was not an actress. This lady sprouted from nowhere and dominated the roles, her talent is outstanding and it is impossible for me not to acknowledge her. I pray we find young raw talent like you as well. And I’d also like to add that Rita’s acting in this movie was purely phenomenal and totally convincing
-Setting and Costume: [2 out of 5] In this movie, Jnr Pope’s character is the sort of roudy over Americanized I must-to-be a gangsta type, so I understand the outfits, but what I do not understand is why any sane person would where shades within the house over and over and over again. Scene after scene after scene.
-Video and Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Fair
-Soundtrack [3 out of 5] I am yet to find a major fault in the work of Mr. Erowele, but rest assured that when that day comes, you’ll be the first to know.
