-Story: [1 out of 5] If you have been on this blog before, you realize that only once in a very very blue moon do I review or even watch a Nigerian/African Comedy movie. Why is that? Well because most of the stories are pretty repetitive Mama G goes to school then she goes to the market then she goes somewhere else boohoo. Osuofia goes to London then he goes to Fifa then he goes to Ghana boohoo. Aki and Pawpaw in old soldiers, now their beating up their father, now their beating a villager, now their mother… boohoo. It’s usually the same thing, same plot and same actors and actresses (well pretty much like everyother african movie…lol). However, once in a while, there comes a movie that I really am excited about and guess what? “Nollywood Hustlers” wasn’t it. I only watched the movie because of Ramsey and Bishop and dayum am I glad I did. The story is one that really needed to be told and I hope all these directors without a goal or vision watch it and look for another occupation. But, you know there was still a but…lol. Well for the most part, I was not at the edge of my sit for this movie. I wasn’t crazing whilst watching it you know? And this might be in part due to my high expectations or because it wasn’t that fantastic or because I’m not really into Nollywood comedy. But you tell me what you thought
-Originality: [2 out of 5] No one can watch this and tell me that it wasn’t original. If you do, then I’ll need you to point me towards another movie of the same caliber or storyline. There might have been one movie about this same story but the movie was, in its part, very original.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] You know how things will turn out but yet you want to watch it. Without giving too much away, I’d like to say that predictability wasn’t a problem
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] What do you think? It was a Moses Inwang work…lol. I am not saying this simply because of his name but because Mo Sneeze is actually good at what he does.
-Acting Quality: [2 out of 5] I loved the acting. This is the second or third movie that I have seen Monalisa play herself in and play a snobby biyatch in. I really hope she is nothing like that though.
-Setting and Costume: [3 out of 5] On Point
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack [3 out of 5] I am a huge fan of SLAM so I don’t think the day is coming when I’ll have a negative word to say about him.
i watched the movie and i was glad i watched it on iroko tv for free, otherwise i will be fuming if i had bought it with my pounds (won’t mind if its local currency). i did’nt feel the movie at all. supposed to be a comedy but just laughed for 10mins out of the 2 parts of the movie. i think rating it at 8 is too high. or because ramsey was there so u decided to pump the points up? tut tut tut
To be honest with myself, most of my early reviews were uhm… how do you say… crap! These past few months I’ve tried to go back to as many of them as I can, and reedit them with a new/clear/WISE perspective…
I admit, this one was whack too… lol
thank you for agreeing. i think if charles inojie did the writing and rest, he would have done a better job with the storyline
