Weeping Soul
Buchi Jeffrey, Collette Orji, Gaddel Onwudiwe, Kenneth Okonkwo, Mercy Johnson, Michael Godson, Princess Egu
-Story: [3 out of 5] Definitely a story that one can sit through from start to finish
-Originality: [0 out of 5] The main concept of orphan suffering in ‘this world’ is something we’ve seen over and over again.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] Definitely
-Directing/Editing: [1 out of 5] First of all, there’s the issue of that hand dangling in the shot (where it was not supposed to be). Then there’s the issue of Mercy Johnson’s character’s child. When the child was a baby, he was dark skinned. When the child was a toddler, he was still dark skinned. Then how come all of a sudden, the child turns 29 and becomes Michael Godson? I don’t understand why Kenneth Okonkwo was cast as a ‘young man’ and decked in a tight fitting tee, face cap and jeans, in the opening scenes when we all know the man is old enough to (almost) be Mercy Johnson’s father.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] The sky is blue. (Most) water is clear. Sugar is sweet and Mercy Johnson is a great actress. Apart from the fact that I think Kenneth Okonkwo was too old for all this, he did his role justice. Most of the extras in this movie were horrid. Buchi Jeffrey (you may remember her as Jackie Appiah’s character’s friend in “100% Secret“). Buchi played the role of Doris, Mercy Johnson’s “new/good” sister. In my opinion, I no think say na the babe worse pass but there is a certain air of ‘fake’ surrounding her acting. It was there in 100% Secret and is here now too. She doesn’t seem to be giving it (aka acting) her all. Another thing that got me was the part of the movies after “25 Years Later”. It seemed only Mercy J was acting her character’s age right. Except for the makeup, everyone else was still acting normal: walking as agile as ever, and speaking with as much ferocity as young men do. Generally disregarding the fact that 25 years have passed
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] Not a big fan of the makeup for “25 Years Later”.
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Good
-Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Not bad
-Soundtrack: [3 out of 5] Fair
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Well done
I am a fan of any movie by Mercy Johnson, anyday anytime. She is a great actress.
