Four Nigerians from different walks of life have each been recently diagnosed with advanced cancer. Each copes with their diagnosis in a different way, from relying on religion, to turning to alcohol. The devastating news not only deeply affects them, but also those closest to them.
"But your father can talk eh! This man has Ph.D. in talkery" - Kenneth Okonkwo "Mama it is God who keeps us alive and not this bib"

A movie with a lesson/moral
Needs better production
-Story: [3 out of 5] I love the story and the moral of the story and the purpose behind the story and all of that but most of all I like the fact that it actually does have a story and the story has a moral too (not something you can say about most of the movies being produced today). Some things that stood out to me in the movie was that from the four different individuals, two were rich and two were poor. And for some reason it was only the two rich people who condescended to diabolical means in an attempt to cure themselves; which I thought was really ironic. On the one side you have the poor people going to hospitals and church and then you have the rich ones going to spiritualists (home and abroad). Speaking of which, I felt the scenes shot in India were probably the most racist things I’ve seen since… I dunno.. “Doctor Bello“. How cliched is it that you would go to India in search of a Native Doctor? And how cliched is it that the lady would be conducting dance classes in her home? Lmao, y’all need to stop portraying India in this ‘Silsila’ method; this is 2012. (And they were now playing Indian music too… “Daard-E-Disco” a la “Om Shanti Om… chai!)
-Originality: [3 out of 5] In the theme that it deals with and the way that it deals with it, Yes! Save our Souls is arguably original
-Predictability: [3 out of 5] It goes both ways with predictability.
-Directing/Production: [2 out of 5] This is a Moses Inwang movie… I loved the fact that it was in two parts… but I was not that impressed by the directing. It all seemed really flat to me.
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] The extras were mostly flat. Not that bad of actors but not that good either. I love the league of actors within this movie and this is probably because I love Segun Arinze.
If I had to pick a stand out in this movie it’d be Enebeli Elebuwa because I think he expressed a wealth of emotions in order to bring his character’s plight to the screen.
Anthony Monjaro. Just like in “X-Class“, I really can’t tell much about Anthony’s acting prowess from this movie because his role, again, is very flat and… doesn’t require much. Hence, it would be unfair to say that he doesn’t show emotions because na which kain emotion doctor suppose show? And it’d be hasty of me to call him a good actor based on his roles as a good samaritan and a doctor. So I guess I just have to wait till I see “Last Flight to Abuja“.
I think everybody else carried their roles out quite decently
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Movie shot on location in Nigeria, London and India. Sets were mostly adequate
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] In the last scene, Oby is wearing a bald cap and I notice that the bald cap used is a different color from her skin so one can see this evident color difference between face and head which shouldn’t be.,,
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] …but at least we are learning to use bald caps. Instead of shaving the actresses hair off and using it as extra publicity for the movie.
-Video Quality: [1 out of 5] The video in this movie was like the D in HD, just without the H. It was quite feint in most scenes and randomly clears up in others.
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Changing timbres occassionally
-Soundtrack: [2 out of 5] Was enough to carry the sad emotions but could have better though.
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Good
For cancer movie!!! Give me holding Hope any day. This may have been better if chioma played the oby role as a better actress, oby didn’t do it for me, in holding hope I didn’t know when I started crying…yes I have seen better directing from moses
You know what? I think I’d have to agree with you, Holding hope was a much better cancer movie
