Unoriginal storyline so extremely predictable
-Story: [2 out of 5] If you have absolutely nothing to do and you just must watch a movie, then maybe you should watch this movie. Why? The story is nothing exciting but then again, neither is it pointless or a painful watch. Somethings were left unexplained (like how the elders were able to locate Oge Okoye in the last part), and it just doesn’t seem to flow well sometimes (this might be due to the story or the acting, can’t place my finger on what it is)
-Originality: [1 out of 5] It’s a storyline we’ve only seen a million and one times before with a couple added arguably ‘different’ twists.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] I can give the movie many things but definitely not predictable. The storyline travels along the expected path and arrives at the expected destination.
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] I think if part one of a movie is 44 minutes and part 2 is the exact same length (and so is every part that follows), then why don’t we just… I dunno… join part 1 and 2 and call that ONE PART. In fact, one can even forgive having more than one part. It just doesn’t make any sense to make a movie a quarter of an hour and then stop and start again. The standard length of film is 90-120 minutes and part 1 and 2 combined don’t even reach that so why are you cutting it?
At some points in the movie, it seemed like the continuity could use some help. And there were too many unnecessarily prolonged scenes in my opinion.
-Acting quality: [1 out of 5] Honestly, I think the only ‘near’ true actor in this movie was Oge Okoye because she was really the only one I was getting anything from.
I usually love Angela Okorie but I did not in any way feel like this role suited her. She tried but wasn’t able to adequately convey the fear and energy required for the role.
It is no secret that I do not believe Annie Macaulay is one of the best actresses Nollywood ever produced. In fact, most of the time she barely scratches the surface of one can deem ‘acting’. She is not as annoying in this movie, however, and I believe this is in part due to the fact that her role is not as major.
All the other acts in this movie were really flat and recitative.
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Mostly on point
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] Somethings that didn’t make any sense to me: 1) Why timid Ada had a tattoo on her left arm? (Did somebody forget to cover that? Or am I supposed to believe it’s a mark of the coven) 2) Annie Macaulay’s witchery outfit (was the intention to make her look like one of Cinderella’s evil twin sister’s? If so… then mission accomplished) 3) Angela Okorie’s witchery make-up (lmao… this one eh… I fitn’t even comment)
-Props and Graphics: [2 out of 5] I get that the concept is to make it look like the witches’ coven is in the skies (which uhm… I think should be reversed o… God in heaven(skies)… witches in hell(pits of the earth)… but that’s not the issue now). And I’ve seen this same thing with some Patience Ozokwor witchery movies, but we need to find better graphics for these things (and those junior witches that just sit there and rotate their head like snakes? I comment my reserve abeg)
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Well done
-Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack: [3 out of 5] In the second part, the closing credits used the instrumental from Frank Rajah Arase’s “Princess Tyra” and unless the music composer for this movie was Austine Erowele, I think credit should be given where credit is due
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Ok
good
Hehe, I thought as much but this one can help as your sleep inducer and make you fall asleep faster
If I have absolutely nothing to do,I will prefer to sleep. Watching an uninteresting movie? Nooo.
Let me follow the link now to “Princess Tyra’ cos I can watch that one all over again and still enjoy it.
