Can I be honest? I saw Mike Ezuruonye and Yvonne Jegede on the covers and I was sold. I also noticed that it had four parts but I thought “meh, there are about 40 minutes long each. I can do that!” We already know how this goes. They meet. They fall in love. Typical. But it’s going to be with two great actors so it is going to be great. Is that how it went? No!
Attitude is two different stories about many different people that doesn’t really go how you think it is going to go based on the covers. On one hand we have the Mike Ezuruonye angle, with a family that’s broken. Father and son are the ‘good kids’: they pay their tithes, they pray in the morning, they work hard, they drive modest cars. Mother and second son are the ‘bad guys’: they party for breakfast lunch and dinner, ETOH is their H2O, and they wouldn’t be caught dead in church. Oh did I mention, they hate the good kids (are you rolling your eyes with me please).
On the other hand we have Yvonne Jegede who takes the cake for all the cliches. She’s an orphan (check), came to the city to find a job (check), met a good Christian boy (check), stayed celibate for marriage (check), and then disaster happens and they break up (check, check and triple check). Somehow their destinies intertwine but yet they don’t end up with each other, there’s a church angle and everything works out in the end.
As far as originality of the storyline, I’d say look elsewhere for originality. However, the actors do enough to keep you watching this movie till the end. It’s one of those movies you can watch without actually watching and not really miss anything. However, it doesn’t bore you out of your mind so that’s also a plus.
