Sometimes you intentionally seek out that formulaic love story. That traditional feel good romance movie where the guy gets the girl or the girl gets the guy. But somehow, even then these movies still manage to fail you.
When Love Finds You is the story of a young businessman who seems to always be searching for love in all of the wrong places. Most times he is simply playing around but whenever he falls in love, he falls in love hard. Eventually his mother begins to pile on the pressure and he decides to take the search a little bit more seriously. He then meets and falls for a fiery hot thing – Alex. She seems to be everything he is searching for and more except that as the movie goes on we realize that she actually isn’t. In fact, the girl that he has been searching for this entire time has been right under his nose pining for him.
If you feel like I just gave away the plot of the movie, then think again because this is not only stated in the synopsis but is also revealed in the early parts of the movie. So if the movie doesn’t have originality or mystery going for it then what does it have? I’ll tell you what “when love finds you” does have going for it – pretty faces.
Ideally, the chemistry would be magnetic and make up for any lack in originality or the storyline might be so endearing that it pulls you the rest of the way. Neither of those happened here. Here I kept waiting for the plot to commence that I barely realized when the storyline had ended.
When Love Finds You isn’t a bad movie. It’s just not a good movie either. I’m hard pressed to find any reason to recommend the movie because it seems to be lacking in everything from chemistry to originality.
