Royal Deal
Olu Jacobs, Mercy Johnson, Clem Ohameze, Eddie Nartey, Leo Mezie, Cassandra Odita, Esther Audu
The movie Royal Deal is divided into six parts: Royal Deal part 1 and part 2 then Royal Tussle Part 1 and part 2 then Royal deal part 3 and part 4.

Emeka Amakaeze
-Story: [1.5 out of 5] The succession from part 2 to part 3 for me was a bit of a jump, there was a lack of flow and the actions were disjointed. From part 1 to part 2, I understood what was happening then all of a sudden in part 3 it was as though they skipped months ahead and did not show us the scenes where some main events happened, we had to deduce it from conversations. *SPOILERS* For instance, How did they suddenly realize Mercy was at fault? How did she shoo Clems from the village in the first instance?. Regardless, I thought the story was… a bit entertaining
-Originality: [1 out of 5] This is not the first movie (and will probably not be the last movie) where people are fighting for the crown (see every Pete Edochie movie before this). However, I do admit that the snake aspect is a bit new. After Princess Rihanna though, I do hope to stop seeing any more snake movies, period. There were some parts in this movie where I wanted to fast forward because it was getting annoying
-Predictability: [1 out of 5] I’d like to say that this movie was not predictable, because from part 1 to 2 honestly, it wasn’t. I would never have guessed who was behind the snake appearances. But then the soundtrack told me who it was thereby making it very very predictable indeed. I feel like the scenes in part 3 and 4 where out of order, if this was supposed to add to tension or remove from predictability, I don’t know but one thing I know is that it was frustrating
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] A lot of things were annoying about this movie, annoying characters (i.e Esther Audu’s character, see ‘Acting Quality’), annoying scenes (scenes were not in order in part 3 & 4), annoying soundtrack (see ‘Soundtrack’ for the soundtrack lyrics) and annoying spelling (in the listing of cast and crew some names were misspelled). Before I finish this section, I’d like to ask all Nigerian screenwriters a question (especially the ones that write for Jim Iyke), why is it that every idiot that supposedly ‘comes back from America’ must always say things like “Damn!” or “Shit men”. I mean, I live in America and I don’t know a single human being that uses the words “shit mehn” together in a sentence. I leave you with a line from this movie.
Palace Elder to Clem: “Our days of SUFFERNESS… are over”
-Acting Quality: [2 out of 5] Love Mercy Johnson, she lit up the screen. Let’s be honest, besides the fact that I wanted to watch a movie written by Emeka Amakaeze (on left), a Nigerian actor whom by the way I didn’t know was into screen-writing, I only watched this movie because of Mercy. Remember Esther Audu from her breakout role as Mercy’s friend in Two Hearts alongside Majid Michel and Chacha Eke? Well she returns again in this movie, even though her acting was great, I thought her character was extremely annoying in the beginning, always fussing about the littlest of things. I guess some females might be like that… I highly doubt this though cos her insecurity was over the roof. I am pretty sure I’ve seen a Leo Mezie movie before this but I don’t seem to recall exactly what film however, if his acting was as bad in that movie as it was in this one then I don’t want to remember it. His acting skills in this movie were nearly non-existent. The extras were horrible (I said extras not palace maids)
-Settings and Costumes: [3 out of 5] Loved the palace and costumes were on point
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] ok
-Soundtrack [0 out of 5] The soundtrack was literally a bundle of crap. The soundtrack tells you the story I mean WTF (where’s the fridge) kind of soundtrack is “She is a maid in the palace…. POSSESSED BY A DEITY.” Second line “She is a maid in the palace…. POSSESSED BY A STRANGE SPIRIT”???? I thought Nollywood was way past soundtracks like this.
I had the same problem you did. The movie was good until I got to part 3 and there were alot of missing details. However, I watch Royal Tussel and everything made sense. You have to watch this movie in this sequence: (1st)-Royal Deal 1&2, (2nd)-Royal Tussel 1&2, -(3rd )Royal Deal 3&4 . Hope this help!
Ha! Thank you o jare… that makes sense now.. I for fear
