“YOU ARE AS USELESS AS OVERNIGHT FUFU, INFACT OVERNIGHT FUFU IS EVEN MORE USEFUL THAN YOU”
-Story: [3 out of 5] You know, once in a while you watch a movie that can make you cry like Titanic but that once in a while is usually for American movies. Now when it comes to Nigerian movies, it’s once in a blue moon that you will find a movie that even makes you sob or think of crying at all. Why? Because the ability to make people tear up is on a whole other level from the reach of most producers. I mean it’s a combined effort of acting skills, lighting, music and God know’s what else. However, it is my pleasure (cough cough) to tell you that this movie (praise be to God) is just that GOOD! Honestly, in the scene after Mike is sentenced to jail, his wife Ifunanya has a scene where she just sheds tears; like they just flow over and over and over again (I must commend her for her acting skills) and the music in that scene was so good that I almost cried myself *shrugs shoulders* Alright so maybe a tear or two came out… I’m a female, get over it.
-Originality: [4 out of 5] Tres originale. There is nothing like it in the market, not that I have seen at least. It’s a new story and a breath of fresh air from all the overdone stories we see (God knows).
-Predictability: [2 out of 5] I want to slap myself for deducting predictability points cos I honestly wanted to take this story to a 10 pointer status (I guess God has other plans for it…lol). But at some general points it was predictable but then again it wasn’t. You just watch and see for yourself.
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Go Austin!
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] If there is any single thing that is beyond remarkable about this movie (and there is more than one thing), it is the acting. Besides the well known actors and actresses, whom we all know can act, there were three acts that stood out in this movie: Charity Eke (or Cha-Cha), Eve Esin, and Ifunanya Igwe (so what they are all females, sexist? Maybe). It is important to note that I searched for a picture of Ifunanya Igwe everywhere and couldn’t find any. I mean google + facebook + twitter; the girl must be missing from the internet world (either that or her name was misspelled). Chacha Eke we all know (if you don’t then try watching a few more movies) and Eve Esin’s was the only picture I located. The thing I have realized about talent is that it needs to be tested and pushed for one to realize it’s full capabilities. Now, I have seen (and I know you have too) Eve Esin in many movies but in those movies she played either inferior roles or forgettable characters. However, in this movie she played the role of an Amebo yoruba woman, and for a lady from Uyo, I must say she was not only convincing but extremely hilarious. They couldn’t have picked a better comic relief. Ifunanya Igwe, an actress that I have only seen in 1 or 2 movies and never lead roles really shone in this movie and for her first lead role, she blazed it. There were ZERO traces of a novice in her acting and as for Cha-Cha, let’s just say she brought it. Every time I see Cha-Cha act, I’m more amazed than I was the last time.
-Setting and Costume: [2 out of 5] On point
-Video and Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack [2 out of 5] What can I say, Austine Erowele brought it.
