Potential for good storyline
Misuse of actors and unnecessary scenes
It is becoming more and more of a struggle to find an Asaba movie that is light on formula, high on story and high on performance (like “Native Son” or “Heart of a fighter“). Now, most movies are just high on formula, low on story and mediocre on performance.
Heart of a Sister is the story of a big sister who does everything she can to make life easier on her younger sister. She does this up until the point of taking the fall in a criminal case on behalf of her sister and then getting sent to jail. When she returns from jail her sister seems to have changed.
The storyline is tending towards the family of “sister of virtue” except that was a much better movie, and much more watchable. This movie actually started out with a lot of hope because in the first few scenes the background story was told rather than shown. Usually we would say “show don’t tell”, but when it comes to Asaba movies that philosophy will lead you into a six part movie. I was just about to start praising the writers of this movie for not showing me all of the background story, when in the next scene they decided to start showing what they already told me.
The movie had potential to be much more than it was especially with a cast of solid actors like Queen Nwokoye who makes you forget that you are watching a movie, Chacha Eke who is the embodiment of whatever you need her to be the embodiment of at the time and Femi Jacobs who was simply misused in this movie. If the writer had actually taken time to cut out unnecessary scenes and give the characters more depth, this could have been one for the books.
The entire second part of this movie was a snooze fest. It was supposed to be sad and it might have been initially but after a while I found myself no longer feeling sorry for the pitiable character and actually being on the side of the villain.
After a series of unfortunate events, the movie ends just like you would expect it to. The first part of the movie was not the strongest but even then it seemed like Avatar in comparison to the dumb and dumber that was part 2.
Pls watch Baby’s sister. It’s a masterpiece.
Lol alright, we’ll get on it. Thank you.
