Shirley Frimpong never ceases to deliver new amazing twists
The only negative I can think of is that the series is over.
-Story: [5 out of 5] The Adams Apples Series has finally come to an end (however which way you see that) and I must finally make a detailed review of everything (and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING!) So forgive me ahead of time because this will be long.
It’s finally chapter 10 (Happy Endings. New Beginnings), and even after 10 chapters, Shirley is still able to throw twists into the mix of a ‘supposedly’ concluding storyline (I call that skill). Looking back at the movie, Shirley was successful in making this movie ‘more than a conqueror’ (lol). I say that because the movie is a multi-faceted success. Everything from costumes to set to acting is on point but one must not forget the point of a movie which is the story. The fascinating thing about the Adams Apples movies is the wide range of topics it touches on (if not fully addresses). Conquering love in the face of age differences (Jennifer and Gerald). How to deal with competitive love (Kukua and Deno). The ability to discern lust from love, a quest for adventure and a lean towards reality (Baaba and Chris). Dealing with the mistakes of the past (Mrs. Adams and Alfred). Being able to accept the imperfection of others, the imperfection of self (Alfred and Michelle). Realizing when something is not yours and the power to let go (Chidi and Kukua). Realizing that the straight way, as opposed to the crooked, just might be the easy way out (Ivy and Jennifer). Above all, realizing the importance of family and trusting God to work things out… his way, and in his own time (The Adams Apples).
-Originality: [4 out of 5] The Adams Apples is an innovative combination of familiar themes
-Predictability: [3 out of 5] After seeing the poster, I had originally that that they’d all just get married to their better half in the end but, obviously, that didn’t happen. Wait! Have I ruined it for you? (lol… not in so many words)
-Directing/Editing: [5 out of 5] Of late, I’ve felt very uncomfortable with the concept of giving perfect scores in directing/editing (i.e general production) to any movie. Especially when looking at the level of our productions in comparison with that of other movie industries. In as much as I do not like comparing Nollywood/Ghallywood with other woods, it is still undeniable that there is room for improvement and doning out perfect scores for production might be misleading…. ehm… all that one sha na food for thought. I shall take that into consideration on subsequent reviews because the fact remains that Shirley Frimpong’s level of production is ‘high class’ in comparison with a majority of the productions out of our industry.
-Acting quality: [4 out of 5] I was watching a behind the scenes/’the making’ video for ‘The Adams Apples Series’ and in one clip, I remember Joselyn speaking on how Shirley had given her her first big break in the movie industry (I think that was in “The Perfect Picture”). Looking back now, who would have thought that in the space of 2-3 years (I think that’s how long it’s been at least), she would blossom into such a strong actress (emphasis on strength).
If I were to pick the best Ghanaian actress in modern day Ghallywood, taking into consideration choice of scripts, strength of skill and frequency of appearance (and completely ignoring useless movies like “The Queen and I“), I’d have to choose Yvonne Okoro (at least in her age group). She’s an amazing actress who needs to realize her worth and stop acting useless movies.
Radio host turned actress, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku is what I’d like to call versatility in a box. Yes, there are some times when it feels like her acting might be a bit weak in a couple of scenes. But her ‘weak’ beats the strongest of some of the big names in our industry today.
Since the series started, I have nothing but love for Mrs. Adams, Anima Misa Amoah. Haven’t seen her in any production except this and hopefully we’ll see her in more after this.
And between ‘acting personified’ (Adjetey Anang), ‘nearly there’ (Ebi Bright), ’embodiment of complacence – yet still skilled’ (John Dumelo), ‘live wire’ (Vincent Maccaulay), ‘still working through his awkwardness’ (Gerald), ‘progressive improvement’ (Helen Asante), ‘the relatable home girl’ (Roselyn Ngissah), ‘still unsure’ (Soul Knight Jazz), ‘the fire in a dress’ (Zynell Lydia Zuh), and ‘conviction in every line’ (Eric) we have the sexy sassy wahala that we’ve come to know this past year as ‘The Adams Apples’
-Setting: [5 out of 5] I have never been to Ghana but when, if ever, I do, I hope to see Ghana through the eyes of Shirley.
-Costume/Make-Up: [5 out of 5] So… uhm… now that the movie is over shey Joselyn will transfer all her outfits to me?
-Props and Graphics: [4 out of 5] On Point
-Video Quality: [5 out of 5] Well done
-Audio Quality [4 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack: [5 out of 5] Lovely
-Musical Score: [5 out of 5] Nicely done

Anima Misa is one of the very experienced actresses from Ghana. She started started acting way back from the late 60s/early 70s. She had a long break from the Ghanaian cinema after she relocated to the UK. She is the elder sister of Kwaku Sintim Misa (actor/comedian/tv presenter). Kwaku played her brother in Adam’s Apple. She has starred in ghanaian classics like Heritage Africa(a movie every African should see, it was shot on celluloid), Love brewed in African Pot and Ama(another one of my favorites). More recently she has starred in a couple of movies since she came back to Ghana, this includes: Double, Adam’s Apples and Praising The Lord plus, the latter of which is still in cinemas, you can watch the trailers on YouTube. I recommend you to also checkout some the movies made by her longtime collaborator veteran director Kwaw Ansah.

Anima Misa Amoah ( Mrs. Adams) starred in a very old film called “Loved Brewed in an African Pot” which I came across some time ago. Of course, she was a young gal back then and I believe that film is now a bit hard to come by. Loved the series.

The non-major twist was what got me. You know Ms Manso’s twists are like hailstones coming down on you. So when I didn’t see that heavy twist, I was angry and relieved at the same time. But it is well. I got what I wanted all the same. Now to this Season 2 business, they are about to spoil this fond memories of Adams Apples. She shouldn’t do it. Instead look for another story to tell. What do you think NR?
Probably release them to TV I think, whatever the case, I hope we viewers outside ghana can get to watch whatever Shirley has put together…shikena!
hahah! I didn’t say it would keep you at the edge of your seat na. I said it was ‘happy ending, new beginnings’. Shirley did throw in some twists but nothing major. Still a great movie though, you’d have to agree
I finally watched it. Yes, and it was everything I hoped it would be. Sorry, I am a sucker for happy endings. But NR, you said something misleading. I was at the edge waiting but I am glad it kept me there. Not happy about it but I can forgive that since I got my happy ending.
Wait! TV route? as in??? It will be a TV show or they’ll just release them to TV instead of Cinemas… I’m very confused and I hope it’s not the former
NR just heard that season 2 of Adams Apples will be in the pipeline for next year. I’m sure her fans would love this! They want to go thru the TV route, so I wonder what that means for viewers outside ghana? what say you NR?
Btw NR you did not mention the artistes/soundtracks featured in chapter 10? you usually did for previous chapters. Lovely music all round, especially the soundtrack at the very end. Help a sista out…LOL!
Lol I was going to but it was the same soundtrack that was used in Chapter 8 or 9, I think (whichever one had the almost-sex-scene between Babaa and her husband).

NR, your review is on point! As I watched chapter 10, I felt happy and sad. happy bcos i got to see how shirley wrapped things up, and sad bcos i kinda got attached to the xters in the series LOL!
I would certainly like more chapters (within reason!) or perhaps an ADAMS APPLES reunion movie that would tell us what happens to the xters some years down the road.

I love you’re idea for a reunion, it sounds better than the idea of more chapters to me because if she goes on to make more chapters there’s a high possibility that it might just come off as overstretched and overdramatized. But you can’t go wrong with a reunion (at least not to my knowledge)

you’ve finally watched the ten. i agree with your review 100%. am i wrong to say i keep repeating from chapter 1-10 and i never get bored. sincerely, i wont mind a chapter 11, 12, 13 or more.
Yes o! Somebody shout hallelujah, it finally happened. Lol my dear do you jare, it’s a great storyline. Haha me sef I won’t mind, but my only fear is that it will loose it’s focus and just become overstretched. A bit like ‘the game’ tv show… somethings should end when they end, if they get overstretched they’ll loose focus
