The name kind of gives it away, doesn’t it? This is intended as a feel good piece with a simple storyline, a contained cast and low budget. However something about it just looks amateur, this is probably the first movie to come from this production house with a new director and unknown cast. Yet it does a better job and is more pleasant to watch than most of the movies on the IbakaTv channel.
The storyline is predictable from the first scene and unoriginal but its characters are genuinely likeable and nice. The moral is a good one without it being shoved so much in our faces. There are no pointless scenes and no obvious attempts to elongate it with pointless drama. There was clear progression through the story, again owing to the fact that they didn’t try to make it longer. On the other hand, it felt a bit rushed and breathless. There was so much more that they could have done with the storyline because it looked very self-contained and low budget. The child character was given too much dialogue which in turn meant that the others were not.
All the actors used in this film were less known and had very little chemistry with each other. They also had very little energy barring the actress that played Sophie-Adesuwa Idion- who was just a joy to watch. Cynthia Ihebie was okay. The child was given too much dialogue and this definitely overwhelmed him. Not as bad as other child actors out there because there is talent there and if utilised well would have been brilliant.
The locations did not help in terms of expertise as they were all self-contained and empty. Neither did the props. The lighting was atrocious and the sound was sometimes blurred. There just wasn’t experience.
In conclusion, I would recommend this film because of its heart and moral, it is charming. It’s an excellent start for the filmmakers and it is interesting to watch if a bit contrived and rushed.
Wow! nice criticism. This is the most sincere and professional criticism I’ve read on this movie.
