Interesting family movie
-Story: [2 out of 5] I thought it was a… uh… a kind of.. uh… moral-teaching story! Hence, the reason why it falls under family. It’s really straight to the point and in two parts. So it might seem a bit hurried in general. For instance, I felt like more time should have been taken to show exactly how Mercy and Desmond fell in love. Their love was a little too “all of a sudden” for my liking. But I loved that this is a movie that you can sit and watch with your family (children inclusive), not something one can say about many modern day movies. Some of the dialogues for the children did seem very unrealistic. Highly idealistic, but also very unrealistic.
-Originality: [3 out of 5] There are not exactly that many movies with this storyline
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] The storyline and general drift is a given, although I don’t feel like it should bring down the value of the movie as a whole.
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] It’s a movie in two parts so kudos to Mr. Ademinokan and team for starting and finishing a story without any unnecessary fluff. I loved the dance sequence at the end of the movie with each individual cast dancing to some different version of Timaya’s “True Story”.
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] I thought most of the acting in this movie was generally on point. The only character that fell short of perfection was Kachi, played by Chidera Anih. Her dialogues and narratives seemed too much like recitation to me. Loved Didi! (played by Sandra Uchemba). We thank God for child actors that can actually act. Desmond and Mercy were effortless and the extras were good.
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Good
-Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] Mostly on point. I see Mercy must have really liked that earring, this one that she wore it through out the film
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Fair
-Audio Quality [1 out of 5] Very inconsistent
-Soundtrack: [4 out of 5] Nicely done
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Good
