At the Altar

-Story: [2 out of 5] The storyline was generally good. It was a good deviation from the usual perspective we take on a president’s daughter story.

-Originality: [1 out of 5] It is definitely not our first president’s daughter movie (there is still Beyonce), neither is it the first story about a scrupulous politician (Pete Edochie and Alex Osifo already did that about 5-10 years ago) but it is still a bit different.

-Predictability: [2 out of 5] Not at all.

-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] I only have one editing flaw that I noticed which was that in the beginning of the movie, at the point where they warn you not to copy or replicate their movie (although people still copy regardless of the warnings) it said “…and internet distributions are highly PROHABITED.” Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that was spelled prohibited? 

-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] I won’t lie, most of the people in this movie could act. I especially liked seeing Sylvester Madu holding a gun. I mean that guy must be like the James Bond of Africa, the epic way he walks away, stops, swings around and then shoots with his hand perfectly perpendicular with his body… DAMN! My guy can shoot. However, my guy can not love. I did not feel the connection between him and Biola Ige in the scenes when they were supposed to be being romantic, I don’t know if that should be blamed on Biola or Sylvester however, I will blame it on casting. There was this one scene when Sylvester says to Biola “so did you really miss me?… Prove it.” And then they hug?!?! THEY HUG. I’m like WTF. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a proponent of African Porn but a hug, mehn what are you brothers and sisters?

-Setting and Costume: [2 out of 5] Most of the outfits were generally good. Mercy dressed like Mercy and Biola dressed like Biola. But I personally think Biola Ige needs to try a new hairdo. 

-Video and Audio Quality [2 out of 5] No glaring faults

-Soundtrack [2 out of 5] I don’t recall any moment when it was like this music sucks. So the music must have been very ok. It was definitely not beyond great cos there was no moment when I was like “damn! I want this song on my iPod”
