-Story: [5 out of 5]For all those who do not know anything about Shirley Frimpong-Manso (that is if there are such people) first of all, I’m going to need you to kick yourself for not knowing Shirley and you can just go ahead and kick yourself again if you do not know Emem Isong. In fact, unless you just started watching African movies yesterday, my dear, you are in great need of an intervention. When it comes to Ghanaian movies… scratch that, when it comes to the Ghanaian Movie Industry, I do not think it would be far from the truth to say that Ms. Manso defines the industry (somebody correct me if it is Mrs please). Before Frank Rajah, there was Shirley Frimpong and right beside Izu Ojukwu stands Shirley Frimpong. Considering the great regards I have for Mr. Ojukwu, you can definitely be sure that Shirley Frimpong is a force to be reckoned with because I do not and will never rank just ANYBODY alongside Izu Ojukwu.
-Originality: [5 out of 5] Oh I have to say that in all its most intricate fabrics, this movie was beyond original. It was so original that I think it’s a class of its own.
-Predictability: [4 out of 5] Not at all, this chapter leaves the viewers begging for more. More drama. More outfits and more of Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku (I reserve that topic for later)
-Directing/Editing: [5 out of 5] Shirley Frimpong (that is all I am typing because I believe the name, like Emem Isong, is a brand. It speaks for itself. THAT IS ALL)
-Acting Quality: [4 out of 5]When it comes to the females that grace our screens in Ghanaian movies, there are a couple of names that immediately come to mind. Names like Jacke Appiah, Nadia Buari, Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, and Kalsum Sinare. However, there are a select few actresses whose names do not immediately ring a bell. Yet the quality and standard of their acting is something that is undeniable. Off the top of my head, two actresses immediately come to mind and they are Lydia Forson and Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku. Now, I refuse to speak about Lydia because she stole my boyfriend (in the person of Alexx Ekubo via the social networking site called Twitter…lol jk. I still love her to death though), however, I will be speaking of the magnificent beauty and talent embodied in this lady Naa (abeg forgive me, I n o fit type all that long name everytime. Wetin?!? And I thought my name was long. Imagine her receiving an award. “(clears throat) and the award for Best Ghanaian Actress 2011 goes to… goes to Ms. Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku. (commentator side notes.. “Why didn’t they just give it to Jackie Appiah. It would have been so much easier)”. Okay away from the topic of her name. You might remember Ms. Ashorkor from the movie Perfect Picture with Jackie Appiah and the stunning spectacle that is Chris Attoh (or you may not have watched that movie, in which case I advise you to get on it rapidly)
-Settings and Costumes: [5 out of 5] I honestly felt like jumping into the TV screen and snatching the clothes of these ladies backs. The outfits were beyond gorgeous and the setting just makes one fall in love with Ghana all over again.
-Video and Audio Quality [5 out of 5] Superb
-Soundtrack [4 out of 5] I still loved it even though I didn’t know what it meant. To me that is the beauty of all things AFRICA. Regardless of the words being spoken to you, most of the time the simple tone or rhythm of the art makes one fall in love instantly.
Loved it!! Best series ever. It should become a tv show because it’s too good. Shirley Frimpong Manso is the best ever! Adjetey Anang, Joselyn Dumas and Yvonne Okoro were my favourite and the woman who played the daughter of Adjetey Anang. I loved her, I don’t remember her name but she was bomb!!
