-Story: [4 out of 5] See Adams Apples: The Family Ties
-Originality: [4 out of 5] Very Original
-Predictability: [4 out of 5]Right now, I have a prediction, which is that Adjetey Anang is Anima Misa’s son but then again the appearance of the old daughter makes me think otherwise. If things do not go the way I predicted then I have to say that Shirley is much better than I gave her credit for. But for now, the movie is not predictable
-Directing/Editing: [5 out of 5] Shirley Frimpong (that is all I am typing because I believe the name, like Emem Isong, is a brand. It speaks for itself. THAT IS ALL)
-Acting Quality: [3 out of 5] In the beginning of this review, I said that I have reaped a lot more from this site than I have sowed. Well, some may wonder what I mean. First of all, I would like you to realize that I was not in any way referring to material gifts but the intellectual ones. A few lessons I have learned from my detailed analysis of Nollywood is that when someone who is ‘almost perfect’ is set amongst those who are actually ‘perfect’, the efforts of Mr. Almost Perfect seem a bit comical and mediocre and such was the case in this chapter. For some reason I didn’t notice this in the first chapter but the character that plays the role of Adjetey Anang’s daughter’s boyfriend (see family tree…lol) has a shaky acting. In some scenes his actions seem a bit over rehearsed and a couple seconds later he switches back to proper acting. Most of these shaky moments occur in the scene before he is arrested.
-Settings and Costumes: [5 out of 5] I love everything from their outfits to the hair to the makeup and the accessories. Most of all, I love how the story seems to incorporate little snippets and mentions of the sponsors of the movie (i.e Virgin Atlantic and MTN)
-Video and Audio Quality [5 out of 5] Superb
-Soundtrack [4 out of 5] I am getting more and more into the soundtrack but I am not in love. Yet, it is great
i have seen chapter 1-9, trust me it is good, waiting for the chapter 10. i had to email the director to send her a congratulatory message for a job well done. unbelievable
Really? I think I’m just going to chill till the last part comes out and watch them all together because by the time I get the next parts I alwawys forget what the storyline is
i think it is a good idea but difficult to execute, however only top directors like shirley and co can pull if off. anyway i have a question, which do u prefer shirley or leila’s movies, and who do u think make better movies.another question is that do u think emem made the right choice by having desmond elliot direct her movie i will take my chances,if not, which director do u think would have handled it better.lastly what do u think of vivian ejike’s movies.
Dayum this feels like an interview. However, I will attempt to answer all of your questions to the best of my abilities. I really think there is no comparison between Shirley and Leila Djansi. The reason being that they operate in very different spheres. Leila has that more traditionalist theme and most of her movies send a message in a very straight forward manner. That is, from the beginning of the movie, the viewer knows that this is the theme being pursued however in regards to Shirley, she mostly works with the modern world and times. Her settings are in the city in Accra or Kumasi. Her themes, though present, are usually only noticed towards the end of the movie and involves a little bit of thinking to be fished out but her movies are always highly entertaining.
About Emem and Desmond well I don’t see a problem with them. I have never had a complaint about Desmond’s directing (well not yet but I’m about to review Timeless Passion then I’ll have a complaint)
Vivian Ejike’s movies almost always teach a lesson. I think she is a great producer/director or whatever it is that she does. She is also getting better by the movie
well in my own opinion i don’t think desmond is such a good director to be handling emem’s movies, she needs better directors, not that desmond is not good, but i don’t think he is good enough,he is just ok, i think for emem’s movie i will take my chances, she could have used someone like daniel ademinokan, moses iwang, lancelot oduwa imasuen, kenneth gyang, mak kusare etc.
Have you seen the movie?
not yet,but that still diesn’t chande my perception.
