Burning Tears
Amanda Ebeye, Eve Esin, Kalsum Sinare, Kelvin Uvo, Mike Ezuruonye, Tonto Dikeh
-Story: [3 out of 5] Burning tears, like every other Ruth Kadiri movie, has an amazing storyline…
-Originality: [4 out of 5] …that is different (very very different) from that of your typical movie. Yes, the whole twin storyline has been done before but never before like it was done in this movie.
-Predictability: [3 out of 5] Not very predictable
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Everyone involved in the making of this movie did a great job. Kudos to Ruth Kadiri for showing out again. I think I am getting addicted to Ruth Kadiri stories slowly but surely. I will most definitely be looking out for her next work. There were, however, one or two loose ends. For one, why didn’t Tonto use the blank cheque that Mike gave her to pay his hospital bills and why didn’t anyone pursue the issue of Kalsum’s death? The transitioning between both of Mike’s characters was a bit confusing that at first I thought Mike was playing both of the girls. It eventually cleared up in the later parts so that the viewers could tell what was happening.
-Acting Quality: [3 out of 5] People keep on saying Tonto can’t act. She is just a whore on wheels. Attention seeker, ati orishi rishi. But in reality, the lady is a killer actress. Forget the roles where she is casted for the most typical characters (call girl or incestuous daughter) but whenever she is put in a role that is challenging, never, I repeat, never has she been disappointing (i.e private enemy and bursting out and hopefully the damage movies). Eve Esin is literally a force to reckon with. You may remember her from her role in Innocent Pain as the raving yoruba lady. She definitely gets stronger and stronger by the day. The acting in this movie was great.
-Settings and Costumes: [2 out of 5] The only flop was Tonto’s tattoo. It did not go with her whole village girl role and I saw that they tried to cover it up but in most scenes I could still see the tattoo.
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack [3 out of 5] Great job
