Jungle Ride tells the story of Akin (Joseph Benjamin), an unemployed graduate of Petroleum Engineering, who was opportuned to meet with Honourable Jembe (Kayode Freeman), a friend of his late father.
Jembe writes a note on the back of a business card to the MD of a company asking him to give Akin a job. Unfortunately Akin loses his wallet and loses his chance to get a job. Emeka (Chidi Ukwu), another unemployed graduate sees Akin lose his wallet. He waits until Akin is out of sight and picks up the wallet. While going through the wallet he comes across Jembe’s note and he presents himself to the MD and gets the job that Akin should have got. Meanwhile Irene (Omoni Oboli) is Akin’s girlfriend. She dreams of being a model, but is employed in financial management, a job which she hates. However she has to keep the job in order to support Akin and herself. She is waiting for Akin to get a job so that she can quit hers, and pursue modelling full time. Now that life has to play its card on Akin, Emeka and Irene, how does the Jungle Ride end?
The movie Jungle Ride is divided into two parts only. So buy only one DVD!!!
-Story: [4 out of 5] A movie that is interesting from the get go. It carries you along with it’s emotions. A story like no other, executed without fault. Simply breath taking from start to finish. One movie you’d want to watch again.
-Originality: [4 out of 5] …hmm, I did say this was a movie like no other right?
-Predictability: [5 out of 5] First of all, this was not the story I expected (which is great). It did not go as I expected (which is even better). But the best part is that it ended nothing like I’d expect. Not your typical Nollywood ending.
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Definitely executed properly my only query is this! Omoni Oboli’s modelling pictures that supposedly got her into the finals of an international modelling competition are in no way modelesque. It isn’t even a model trying to act natural, it just looks like pictures for a photo album/facebook. So I do not understand how these mediocre photos got her into the finals but regardless, it was amazing.
-Acting Quality: [4 out of 5] Great cast, great execution. My love for Omoni Oboli is growing stronger than ever. Joseph Benjamin proves his acting prowess from scene to scene and I can’t wait to see him in Tango with Me with Genny. Even Chidi Ukwu, the newbie, who played the lead role (or semi lead role, lol) of Emeka, executed it with all conviction. However, the one act that was the most appealing for me was Tolani. The character of Tolani was played by Ashionye Michelle Ugboh (on left), her acting was so amazingly appealing that I felt compelled to google her (this in itself is a miracle cos laziness is the order of the day in my life). This is what I found
Ashionye is popularly referred to as Nigeria’s Beyonce. Whether you think the comparison is justified is down to personal taste but one thing is for sure. Ashionye Michelle Ugboh is bold and ready to break down barriers. She is a TV presenter and former Cool-FM DJ; She is on the cover of this month’s True Love West Africa, recently released her debut album and has been performing at various concerts.
More grease to her elbow and I can’t wait to see her on my screen again sometime soon.
-Settings and Costumes: [3 out of 5] on point
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] good
-Soundtrack [2 out of 5] mediocre
I watched this movie enjoyed it and was happy my $5 wasnt a waste. I totally agree with you about the model pictures.
That’s a high rating, I wouldn’t mind watching it.
waooo…. i want to watch
