-Story: [1 out of 5] Eh… I was not intrigued by this story. I was not impressed by this story. Ehm…. for me, this story was pretty bleh! If you sat me down to narrate this story to me, I would…. probably tell you the rest (accurately) and then fall asleep. I think… this would probably be my last Yoruba movie. Because it was pretty top notch yet quite unexciting.
-Originality: [1 out of 5] You know, I saw the trailer and was very interested in this a year ago. And then I saw the movie… and I’m… SMH! It’s not fascinating. The going to America part was not fascinating or original. Brother joining a gang? Can you spell OVERDONE! I’m sorry but I wasn’t into most of the aspects, but I would say that the movie did not crash land, it had some originality in there…. somewhere.
-Predictability: [1 out of 5] Yeah! I did see the end coming, however *SPOILER* I did not think Said would die and I didn’t think it would have such a frustrating ending for Kate. As regards everybody else (i.e all the other characters) that was doing juju ofcourse we know that it will all come crumbling down but I’d at least expect the corny trend to continue and find Kate a nice husband but it didn’t happen so I’d guess… that would make it unpredictable? You be the judge
-Directing/Editing: [2 out of 5] I don’t think the title was really THAT significant to the movie come to think of it…. yeah.. maybe it was mentioned two or three times but I’m pretty sure a more befitting title could have been conjured. The subtitles need work. The cinematography is beautiful. Scene progression however was brilliant in the beginning until the end when they started wasting too much time on weddings and parties. My thought is always, “I get it! Move the heck on…”
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] Between Saidi’s over acting and the white man’s underacting, most people in this movie COULD actually act, including extras. Quite impressive actually. Regardless, I’m probably just not into Saidi’s on-screen presence.
-Setting and Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] 100% African attire! I mean, they even had the white guy in Ankara and agbada. Quite impressive if you ask me
-Props and Graphics [1 out of 5] Uhm… fire shooting out of gun? And white ‘thunder’ shooting out of guns? Really? Who is the person that tried to convince me to watch Yoruba movies? It’s the 21st century… I’d think we would have mastered guns by now. But apparently not.
-Video Quality [3 out of 5] Brilliant.
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Doesn’t eliminate background noises but asides from that it was awesome.
-Soundtrack and Musical Score [3 out of 5] I absolutely loved the soundtrack even though I had no clue what it meant. I always say you know when a person can sing when they can sing any song for any dialect without infusing their own intonations.
