I Broke My Heart
Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, Mike Ezuruonye, Lilian Larkia, Oge Igwe
“Chukwu ama’nkwe ihe ojo.” —That, for all those who do not know, is Igbo for God forbid bad thing which was my reaction exactly when I read the title for this movie. I spent a good 5 minutes sitting and staring at the title. I was just wondering to myself, What is this? I mean is it a typo? or just the writer trying to be creative? I was just there thinking how this could play out.
Just imagine it, a female sitting in her P.J’s with a Nollywood movie’s package, staring and deep in thought. However, you know that old saying, don’t judge a book by its cover, turns out that was true. I mean, who knew that some Greek philosopher of the God knows what century could babble out such nonsense as don’t judge a book by its cover and it would actually make sense. I must say that the movie, I broke my heart is a lot less crappy than its title. I am guessing that whoever came up with the title had to settle for “I broke my heart” since “You broke my heart” was already taken. On to the review…
Frank Rajah Arase
2010
-Story: [3 out of 5] This story is one heck of a really good story and it is also highly captivating.
-Originality: [2 out of 5] I would usually rate this movie a 1 but I like the Arase spin on the movie, it took a different dimension thereby rendering itself an original.
-Predictability: [3 out of 5] It is an overdone story that uses the same ending like all the other hundred versions of the movie. ‘They all lived happily ever after. The End’ [sorry for spoiling it for you]
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] It is afterall a Frank Rajah Arase handwriting. No complaints whatsoever. The movie was well executed from start to finish.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] Whoever did the casting for this movie did a really good job because even those who I had never seen in a movie before did an excellent job for newbies.
-Setting and Costume: [3 out of 5] I liked the setting a lot as well as most of Yvonne Okoro’s outfits in the movie. [I also liked Mike Ezuruonye’s dressing but even if he wears rags, I will still like his dressing so I should probably not comment on that. Besides my guy is married oh, make all of una leave am for him wife]. It seemed like mid-movie the house changed and then returned. I don’t know at first the house was all golden and then in the middle they changed it and after one or two scenes they went back to the first house. Make up your minds.
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] For once, I am not complaining about the volume thing. Thank God
-Soundtrack [3 out of 5] Fair
i think its a nice movie they all did well…Oge Igwe is pretty.she should keep it up.
