-Story: [4 out of 5] I think the story was actually quite interesting. It was all done in such a way that it encourages the viewer to sit the full length of the movie and … be entertained!
-Originality: [0 out of 5] I started watching this movie and felt, “wait a minute, didn’t we already have a Nigerian version of this?” So after a couple minutes of cracking my head, I realize the movie I have in mind: “Last Weekend (Who Killed Pa Reuben?)“. The said movie was a 2003 Nigerian movie starring Genevieve Nnaji as Pa Reuben’s young wife, Ramsey Noah, JT Tom West as Pa Reuben’s sons and Nkiru Sylvanus as the maid. Granted in the movie, a rich man dies and his ‘not so ambitious’ family gets back together to mourn him but that story is basically centered around, like the title says, who killed pa reuben. But this one is more of… who gets the Buckman money. But as you start watching this movie, if you are an avid reader, you notice the similarities between the names of the characters, their professions and… the storyline! With… Sidney Sheldon’s “Morning, Noon and Night“. In fact, not only was the entire story stolen from the book (without credit or proper permissions), the character’s names and professions were ripped from the book, as-is. I’m thinking if you’re going to commit theft then attempt to conceal it na? Don’t be glorifying the act by being so up front about it.
-Predictability: [1 out of 5] If you’ve read the book then.. Yes! You know how it ends and if you haven’t… then your guess is still good enough.
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Asides from the glaring theft, I think it was a job well done really. Kudos to Roger Quartey on his first production.
-Acting quality: [4 out of 5] Impressive! Most of the acts in this movie were simply impressive. John Dumelo did the conniving role brilliantly (as he also did the ‘gay’ role… lol). Jackie was breath taking. Kofi became the role. Eddie Nartey was not a detective in this one (thank the Lord!), instead he was a stammerer… however I still think that Van Vicker was a much better stammerer. Yvonne Nelson did a splendid job. Infact, everyone was good except those who were not. I was not so impressed with Beverly’s acting… as I really never am. However, no one was more annoying than Ben Kwadey who played the role of Woody (the drug addict).
-Setting: [4 out of 5] On point
-Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Props and Graphics: [4 out of 5] On Point… again, we see the use of that CIA type bio-data analysis (or whatever it’s called where they freeze the screen, zoom the camera in, change the color to green and tell you the character’s name, age and occupation)
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Nice
-Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Ok
-Soundtrack: [3 out of 5] What can I say? I’m a Bernie fan
-Musical Score: [4 out of 5] Great
