A strong leading pair
An overly predictable storyline
-Story: [2 out of 5] The story is not that fascinating. Nothing new. Nothing really exciting but it’s an interesting watch especially in comparison with the storyless movies that abound these days.
-Originality: [0 out of 5] There’s really not much that is original in this movie except maybe the fact that this movie deals with two separate royal families as opposed to only one.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] Very very predictable! You can tell how it’s going to end without even pressing play. You try it (if you haven’t seen the movie that is). You don’t even need a trailer. Go ahead, read the synopsis, glance through the cast listing and tell me you don’t already know the storyline? (Hint: Van is a prince and Mercy is a princess)
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] Nothing spectacular, nothing disastrous, a fair enough job all round
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] Acting was not that amazing especially for a cast like this. Most of the cast held it together, although the extras were especially difficult to watch.
I won’t say Ugezu can’t act per say because he keeps giving himself the same ‘igbotic’ roles to play in all his movies so I highly doubt that he’s doing much acting versus being himself. Infact, I don’t think his acting capacities are being called into question. It seems to me as though there was a character without an actor and Ugezu filled the spot.
I really wish more use would have come out of Ken’s character, it’s always a joy to see Mr. Erics on screen. But regardless, he did good work with whatever little screen time he had.
It’s a sheer joy to see Mr. Edochie back on the screens. I realize it’s a 2010 movie, hence he’s not really back but it’s not like he was doing that many movies in 2010 either so I’ll take what I get and be grateful in advance. Although, I wish his return was in a more solid/different/unique film.
I don’t know what it is about Nuella Njubigbo that endears me to her movies. No be say na she act pass or na she fine pass but the movies that she acts in, more often than not, always have a storyline that’s easy to follow and just simple fun.
The voice is not the only annoying thing about Hanks Anuku…. or maybe it is! I really just can’t get past it and it makes his movies tedious to watch.
Charles Awurum, Eve Esin and all other extras did a fair enough job. The lead male, Van, held his role well enough and Mercy Johnson’s prowess as an actor has never been in question. Not much can be said without sounding redundant
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Fair
-Costume/Make-Up: [1 out of 5] Costumes were really really weak. The characters looked like they were wearing curtains. Even if y’all did not want the extravagance of Chiemela Nwagboso costuming, then at least do well and hire Uche Nancy.
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] Not bad
-Video Quality: [3 out of 5] Fair
-Audio Quality [1 out of 5] Very highly inconsistent
-Soundtrack: [1 out of 5] Sounds like something out of a Mr. Ibu movie (which vexates me because I can’t stand Mr Ibu movies)
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Nicely done
