Curiosity killed the cat, it is a bad thing. I saw this on the TvNolly channel and I was so curious I had to check it out. Obviously I seen the infamous trailer and I was wondering what they were going with it. The question is is it really as raunchy as it tried to portray itself? And I can safely conclude that it was a cheap marketing stunt
The plot is not bad, halfway through it got interesting. There was a nice mystery and the resolution was satisfying. It certainly wasn’t predictable however it was very slow-paced. The sex scenes were thankfully not long and not really explicit. There was also no explicit nudity, you could tell she was naked but that was about it. The scenes were unnecessary because in some instances the filmmakers did use discretion shots so why they didn’t use it at all times is a mystery to me. The dialogue was not great, it sounded forced and unnatural even when Pidgin English was spoken. The characters themselves had no motivations and made sudden decisions that did not fit with what had already been established…for example man keeps speaking about his wife and how much he loves her and criticises extra-marital affairs but yet in the next breath has an affair. It was too abrupt and jarring.
But then the acting was definitely not good. I don’t know why both Tony Umez and Collins Onwochei chose this movie to make their comeback but they weren’t great in it at all. This may seem harsh but Nollywood has moved on but their acting has not. They were just average and we have now come to expect great or at least good performances from top stars. The main actress, bar the nude scenes that I still don’t understand why they needed to exist, started off really bad and unbelievable and but got better as the movie progresses. The extras actually outshined the main actors except the policemen but since when has that been a surprise. Do they intentionally get bad actors to play policemen?
The movie looked like it had been produced in 2004; the set and the actors look like they are from 2004. It is not clear and was sometimes too dark to see anything. Although I think that was done on purpose to avoid showing actual nudity-something they could have avoided by not having the girl actually be naked. The soundtrack sounded 2004 as well and the special effects were like none I have ever seen. They did this effect where they were supposed to be driving thus moving and it is singularly the worse I have ever seen. The trees and scenes were so badly done and obviously animated (badly) that it takes a while to actually believe that they released that.
In conclusion, I am not sure I can recommend watching this .On one hand the story is interesting and it makes an average movie, on the other hand…the cheap marketing ploy used by the producers of this film should not be rewarded by views. I do have one question, these actors, they no get wife at home?
Greetings,is the actress,CHINELO EMEMCHUKWU,a one hit wonder? She does not have a fan page, nor can I locate her in any other movies.
I totally agree with your comment about Nollywood moving on and some of the older actors I thought were great are now just there it’s like watching Charles okafor in uche Jombo ‘s misplaced movie and thinking van Vicker was a better actor smh… I am not going to see this movie simple. Thanks dear
