Acting
I’m not really enamoured with this new practice of making viewers wait days before releasing a direct sequel. I can understand the reason for the decision but all it does is make the movie appear disjointed. Instead of judging the movie as a whole, in your mind it becomes two movies which makes it very hard to review.
The plot was interesting and new but was failed by so many factors. It followed a very interesting thread and I am not ashamed to admit that at times a few tears escaped my eyes. It was sad and really tried to get to the heart of the mater. However this was ruined by over long scenes that just went on and on. There really didn’t need to be too many scenes of people crying or behaving upset, one or two would have done. It really showed its length in that aspect. I did like the theme of it, and I guess it put some effort into being educational. The characters were interesting enough but were carried by the suitation.
Guys, it really saddens me to type this but for the first thirty minutes of this film Mercy Johnson was piss poor. Her performance was over the top and overly dramatic but I am pleased to report that as the film progressed she recovered. She wasn’t the only one, I wasn’t impressed by the acting at all. Sam Dede and a select few such as Oma Nnadi were good, they tried but sometimes wooden extras spoil the soup. And Frank Artus. He literally pooped in the soup. Every time he was on screen, I was enraged , he was given really meaty emotional scenes but it really didn’t translate well on his face or in his tone.
In conclusion , in continuing with the soup metaphor it is not the best soup there is but it is good enough. The educational plot really makes it edible but the other aspect fail to inspire.
