Character, Story
Production, Random and Long Scenes,
I am sick and tired of watching of four parts of a movie , all an hour. Sick and tired. Surely the first mark of a sophisticated film is that it has only one part. No matter how bad a film, that the filmmakers have condensed it into one part gives it a leg up.
This film is original. It makes use of its actors very well and really makes use of its space, although as expected some scenes ran on for too long. Some scenes even felt like they were from a different movie, they had no bearing on the story, they featured irrelevant characters and the story itself was just so out of the left field. While it was nice to see Nonso Diobi, his storyline was only three or so scenes and made no sense. It was honestly just so strange. Moving on the parts of the movie that actually contributed to the scenes, this is by far the best characterisation I have ever seen in Nollywood. The characters particularly Ruth Kadiri’s and Oge Okoye’s were superb. Complex and relatable, you can see that each character grows and changes. There was a clear cause and effect with these characters. Yemi Blaq’s on the other hand really pinched my nerves; he learnt nothing and did not receive fallout from his actions. All in all, the story was engaging and interesting bar a few misses.
The acting was great, everyone was in top form. I am biased against Yemi Blaq but I concede that his performance was good as well. The extras on the other hand were woeful. They were really bad, some could barely speak English, and others had no control over their facial expression. Chika Ike and Nonso Diobi showed up from nowhere, for less than five minutes. It was just so strange.
In conclusion, it is interesting enough, the characters are engaging and the story is not a common one. Personally I disliked the ending-way too much forgiveness- but it is not that great of an obstacle. As long as you go in knowing that Ruth Kadiri and Yemi Blaq are ending up together then you are ok.On a related note, will IBAKATV ever label their movies? It has now become an act of defiance.
