I have talked long and hard about suffering porn. Nollywood just churns out these films although there has been a new crop of interesting twists on the first classics. In that way the familiar storylines that we accord to these types of movies are being replaced by newer, fresher ways of making us cry and this one definitely made me cry.
The story started out quite fresh and interesting and kept getting interesting. The characters were understandable, relatable and definitely compelling to watch. The portrayal of abuse and relationships definitely keeps interesting even though some of the actions by the characters came out of the blue and without warning. That is evidence of bad characterisations and just needing the plot to move. Your characters need to take actions that make sense for their characters. Towards the end it did become tedious but I believe that was personal. We all know that good wins, that all will be forgiven. Just once I would like a twist on that. All in all, the entire plot was interesting and you will shed a tear.
ChaCha Eke has been around for a while but slowly she improving herself, extending her range and the roles she takes. It definitely shows her and her acting is superb. Ngozi Ezeonu and Clem Ohameze never disappoint, although veteran actors should definitely be praised more. I wasn’t not much impressed by the other actors, except maybe Adaora Ukoh and Chris Okorondu, as the rest were average at best.
The soundtrack was good and the score was very effective. There were only two parts to the film and it was a very carefully edited two parts however there were so extra-long parts. Not that grave a sin but enough to be noticeable.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this movie. It’s like garri, it is not gourmet but it will definitely fill you up. By the way Clem Ohameze is on fire these days, does that man never rest?
