…AND SO WE CONTINUE! I’ve recently been accosted about missing a few key characters that according to some “should have DEFINITELY made the list” for some of our previous posts on this #2017REWIND. Please remember that our list can only be so complete so please feel free to tack on any additions to the comment section.
On that note, here is our list of the TOP FIVE MOST MEMORABLE TV AND/OR MOVIE CHARACTERS FROM 2017! We already anticipate that we will miss some so please please let us know which we left out:
#5. TIN TIN from “The Wedding Party”
Okay okaaayyy! Before you start, we admit that “The Wedding Party 1“ is a 2016 movie and yes we also acknowledge that Tin Tin’s character was possibly just tacked on to the second part of the movie. However, ‘the TinTin revolution” was in full force in 2017. What else do you call all the social media posts/memes of Sola Sobowale’s character’s entrance from the original #TWP? Everyone recognized TinTin because she was someone we all know and needless to say, Sobowale killed the performance. But we also admit that this is an old character, hence why she is #5.
#4. MUMMY TIWA from “Skinny Girl in Transit”
We’ve always known that Ngozi Nwosu has immeasurable skill and this season of Skinny Girl in Transit really allowed her the platform to show it. Her various theatrics, though a bit overextended some times, had most of us nodding in recognition because we were either that woman or we knew that woman.
#3. WURAOLA from “The Backup Wife”
We could mostly catch on to the fact that Bimbo Ademoye is one talented woman. However, her role in “The Backup Wife” gave her an opportunity to show it in a matter of fact kind of way – and it was an opportunity that she did not let go to waste. This character (especially coming at the time of the year that it did) makes it difficult to look back on the year’s favorite characters without immediately thinking of her.
#2. IJEOMA from “Banana Island Ghost”
If we are going to have someone be haunted by a ghost while she is running around the city trying to raise 18 million naira in a few days to save her late father’s house, then it’s Chigul. Chigul’s impeccable comic timing and delivery made her performance in this year’s early release – BIG – simply unforgettable.
#1. JOBE from “Picture Perfect”
There aren’t many people ending this year without knowing what it means to be a ‘philanderer’ and it’s all thanks to Jobe. Bolanle Ninalowo truly got an opportunity to prove to us that he was more than just a hot body and foreign accent in this Biodun Stephen film – Picture Perfect. His rendition ended up being unforgettable and has earned him the number one spot.z
