Interesting storyline
Rip of a Bollywood movie
-Story: [3 out of 5] I loved the story. At first, it didn’t seem like I would. I mean look at the cast. Nadia + Artus + Nikki? It was almost as much of a recipe for disaster as “Million Dollar Baby” was. But the movie surprised me. It was actually a really good storyline. It was entertaining. The four hours didn’t even seem like much, to be honest. It wasn’t bad except it was really dramatic. I’m not talking ghen ghen dramatic, I’m talking Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan Bollywood dramatic. I was just waiting for people to randomly break out into dance in this movie (I’m sad to tell you that I waited till the end and there was still no dance number – *weeps*). I mean, Artus’ character actually told Nikki that “[he] can catch a grenade for [her]”. Stop! Since when did you become Bruno Mars?
-Originality: [0 out of 5] I can’t believe it! I honestly can NOT believe it. I refuse to believe that this movie was originally David Owusu’s idea… e no fit. I mean, we are still talking about the same guy that brought us rubbish (and partly stolen) movies like “Wrong Number” and “Yvon’s Tears“. And now I’m supposed to believe that he gets original for once and his original work is this good? Mbanu… don’t get me wrong I’m not an enemy of progress o but some things are too good to be true. Plus considering how dramatic this movie was, I strongly believe that it is a stolen bollywood movie. Unfortunately though, I stopped watching Bollywood movies a couple months ago (my shrink said I was getting a tad bit addicted – what does she know?) and I can’t identify what movie it was stolen from. For now, let’s call it original… until I find out if it was actually stolen
UPDATE: Aha! I said it, I knew the movie was stolen… apparently, the movie is a rip of the 2005 Bollywood movie “Dosti: Friends Forever” starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta.
-Predictability: [3 out of 5] The end was what it was… it was a good ending… that’s all
-Directing/Editing: [1 out of 5] This movie had a little too much drama… ah ahn! It was as if the production guy had just recently discovered the fast and slo-mo buttons. Ki lo de? (What is this?). But nna/nne, the movie was just too bloody dramatic, no be say go come.
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] Normally, I’m not an Artus fan. Not that I don’t think the guy can act but I can’t seem to get past that tongue of his… argh! Call it accent. Call it dialect. Call it inability to speak the English language. I no fit. But… for this movie I did make an exception. I really liked the character he was playing so (for the most part) I managed to overlook his English (except for when I couldn’t). Artus is an amazing actor and this movie just goes to prove that. James Gardiner… *P-Square voice* “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love youuuuuu… aye! Boy I can not do without you ehhhh” (well I can… actually but you catch my drift). Nikki and Nadia were tolerable. The extras were a disaster in broad day light. Cameo by producer, David Owusu, as gateman
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Good
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] Couldn’t understand some of Nadia’s outfits but … let’s leave that matter for another day
-Props and Graphics: [1 out of 5] That fight scene was the ‘pits’
-Video Quality: [2 out of 5] Fair… really sharp at times and dull at random moments
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Good
-Soundtrack: [4 out of 5] Embedded above… Brotherhood by BISA! I personally loved the twi parts… not so much on the rap or the English verses… but the song grows on you after four parts
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Nicely done
“Brother ka ke mya ka o yor shi mi e
Please don’t tell me that you’re leaving me.
Promise say we go die together
…marry together
…and live forever e”
The above is an excerpt from the soundtrack to this movie. Song title “Brotherhood” by Bisa. (I probably murdered the spelling for the twi words… pardon me and feel free to leave the correct spelling for me in the comments – if you know it that is)
