Easy to watch
Some sub-par acts detracting from the few amazing talents
Oya! Pull up a seat and plant yourself on it because I don’t think you’re ready for this. Are you seated yet? Surprising as it is, the truth is that Rukky Sanda has finally succeeded in making an actual ‘good’ movie. After seeing the wreck of a movie that was “Lovelorn“, I didn’t think it possible but it has been done and I commend her.
Now of course the movie is not without its flaws, for instance, I am of the opinion that Rukky Sanda is better off not acting. If she could pull off a movie like this, then it could have been that much better if she had not acted in the movie. She wasn’t per say the worst actor on screen (there were definitely extras with more eye-gauging scenes, and Van Vicker moments that I couldn’t wrap my head around), granted she is getting better, but it’s best to admit that someone could have done her role much better and should have been given the chance.
A couple things that stood out in the movie like the scene in which Van Vicker’s character is supposedly on speakerphone speaking to Rukky, when that obviously wasn’t Van Vicker on the phone (you can’t fool me o. Do you know how many years I spent lusting after Van?) and the camera’s tendency to make everyone’s face seem that much oilier.
One aspect of the movie that could most definitely do with some improvement was the screenplay (which, you’ll notice, was done by Rukky herself). See the thing is, nobody is superman and no one man is an island. We excel at some things and not so much in others. Fact is Rukky isn’t much of an actor and, from this movie we can see that apparently, she isn’t much of a script writer either. So how about we outsource and give the job to someone who CAN! One too many corny lines and redundant dialogues in this movie.
Flaws aside though one can not but notice the good points of the movie like Nse Ikpe-Etim. I realize that I’m beginning to sound like a broken record with this but Nse is just such a fabulous actress that she makes any movie that much easier to watch. Watching the switch in emotions on her face alone is arguably a movie on its own. I don’t even think most everyday people are capable of facially expressing their emotions (without words) like she does on screen.
The only other screen delight for me was Yemi Blaq. Even with the scant amount of screen time he got, he was still able to make his presence felt.
One thing you can’t help but love about the video is the wealth of colors. From the sets to the video to the costume, the colors pop and add a certain excitement to the screen.
All in all, it’s a movie we’ve seen one too many times but a job well done by Rukky Sanda and all involved (except those who couldn’t act… chei!)

Nnem na u write this review? The Search is NOT an easy-to-watch movie. Also add that the worst part of the movie is the end . Cos u’re left wondering what was the whole point …
I actually
reallyliked the search when I saw it, it was easy to watch. Maybe it’s cos I had seen lovelorn and expected absolute rubbish from this (or close). But it wasgoodbetter than I thought.I watch it before reading this review. But since I enjoy your writting, i still decide to read it . Hilarious,really-)
anyway, i agree with you overall. But i think Rukky was not that bad really, you made it sound like she was horrible. But i have to say, this is her third or fourth movie im watching, maybe i dont know anything though.
So tell me, why do you say she can’t act exactly? And how did you find Van vicker?( or that is a stupid question, lol)
Lol, Van was just there and Ruky doesn’t become a character she goes through the motions
the movie was easy to watch indeed i enjoyed it to an extent but it was quiet predictable though
yeah, it definitely was predictable
No be only you lust after Van Vicker O jare. I remember when Hubby used to call him my TV boyfriend.
Now the difference between “easy to watch” and “not easy to watch” movies, Me no understand o.
lol, easy to watch means you can sit through it. Not easy to watch! Barely five minutes in… “THIS IS A LOAD OF BULLSHIT” so you not only eject the movie but you break the dvd and flush it lol
Yeah, I got the alert this morning, and said I’ll wait for your review. I’ll see it this weekend 🙂
Aww… I’m entirely honored, Myne! It’s not a bad movie at all but it shouldn’t be watched with too-high expectations if you know what I mean 🙂
