-Story: [3 out of 5] The story was definitely different. From the get go, the viewer could tell that Haunting was not headed in the same direction as your typical Nollywood movie.
-Originality: [5 out of 5]Besides the fact that this movie touches on the topic of MTBI, which in itself is very different. The general execution of the story was tres different and I presume this has to do with the producer who in herself is different and fairly new (correct me if I’m wrong but who else has heard of Ese Brodricks?)
-Predictability: [5 out of 5] To a certain extent, I was pretty sure that I had the ending nailed. Haba, it could not be anything other than what I had planned. I was absolutely certain that it would end that way that even after it had ended and that did not happen I was searching for a part 3. Sorry but I don’t take kindly to being wrong. It’s in my blood, I am African and I MUST BE RIGHT…lol
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] I am already a fan of Lancelot Oduwa therefore I am not going to talk about him today. However, I will be talking about the producer/supporting actress in the person of Ese Brodricks. This is the first movie that I have seen by her or with her and she did a delightful work, big ups to her (on left with Uche Jombo). On another note, I did notice a typographical error at the end where it said.
“On December twentieth fifth 2009… The Haunting hit the stands in the states.”
-Acting Quality: [3 out of 5] The acting was very on point. Impeccable cast. I was excited to see Justus Esiri in a respectable role, after that nonsense he pulled with Criminal Mind, it was time for him to redeem himself in my opinion. Ime Bishop Umoh killed it again as usual, I am seriously beginning to doubt his normality. I mean, he might actually be that messed up in reality lol (just kidding). I love Omoni Oboli and always will. She is one of the few actresses that I have never seen in a useless role (and I hope I never do). Now to Ese, for a newbie she was good. If you also consider the fact that she produced the movie and was still able to put out such good acting, then it is only fair to say that the lady is truly talented. Yes her acting might still be in need of a little brushing up here and there and elimination of some h-factors here and there (the h in honest is silent dear) but besides that, I’m all for her.
-Settings and Costumes: [3 out of 5] Generally great.
-Video and Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Great and beautiful cinematography.
-Soundtrack [4 out of 5] None but the sound score was impeccable.

I loved Distance between and I love the writer Remi Ibinola. who can confirm that she wrote The Haunting? I went to the premiere for this movie in LONDON, and put simply I thought it was dreadful as did my friend and the others that left before it ended. Maybe it got better. I couldn’t possibly say but I found 30 minutes in the movie unbearable. The sound and picture was also dreadful.
NICE……and written by the same person that wrote distance between. please do you know any other movies written by him or her? this is talent and enlightenment combined!! Nollywood sure needs more of this.
really? I didn’t know Ese Broadricks did Distance Between, then again I wasn’t paying attention. That explains a lot.
When I find out, I’ll get back to you ma’am/sir
this must have been a great movie to get such high rating, but however i don’t want to feel disappointed when i eventually watch it like i did with memories of the heart which u have a 9.75, anyway i hope to see this movie soon.
hmph… really? I’m going to go back now and reread that cos I find that sometimes I don’t agree with my own reviews for movies that I watched a while ago but we learn everyday. However, I still believe that Memories of the Heart was a good movie. It was a good story. What exactly did you not like about it?
Anyways, Haunting was good, no questions asked. Besides Ese’s acting there really wasn’t much wrong with it
i found a lot of things wrong with memories of the heart, from the acting, directing, story, cinematography,to the technicalities of the movie(sound included). it is not the kind of movie that is on the same league with movies like the child, adams apples etc. let me be more elaborate, i can present the child and adams apple to a non-arifcan audience and they will find it difficult to tell it is an african movie because of the quality in them(well besides their accent and names u won’t be able to tell it is an african movie), but present memories of my heart to the same non-african audience and more than half the auduence will walk out half way into the movie because it is simply not an artistic or classy movie.
another example i will like to give is the fact that u can take both the child and adams apple to any film festival because the quality in them is enough to take them anywhere in the world, but u can’t dream of taking such a movie as memories of the heart to a film festival because it will fall flat. honestly there is no way u can compare the picture quality, sound, score, cinematography, acting, directing, and overall production of the child and adams apple to that of memories of the heart,it doesn’t have that classy movie feel, it just seems like just another average nollywood movie.
ok, go watch haunting and come back dear
