Gold not Silver Part 1 and 2

2010
-Story: [3 out of 5] It’s an interesting a-typical’ish story. You’ll find out why in originality…
-Originality: [4 out of 5] I’d say that Gold Not Silver was indeed original because for most movies what we do get is the princess falls for a pauper and her mean old father/king (usually Olu Jacobs of late) would marry her off to some other king from somewhere. At this point, two things can happen. The movie can either end on this sad note. Or she can elope with her broke boyfriend and live happily ever after (cue ‘Tujhe Dekha to ye Jaana Sanaam”). But this is different because it breaks the happily/sadly ever after and lets you know what really happens after all not everyone who marries the one they love gets a DDLJ moment.
-Predictability: [2 out of 5] I wouldn’t say that I could see the end coming in general, however, the predictability lies within the little aspects of the movie.
-Directing/Editing: [1 out of 5] Is it just me or did I overrate Tchidi? I remember Tchidi Chikere movies being highly artistic. Extremely impressive works of art. Keyword being art. But with all the shakiness in the camera in this movie and the general haphazardness of the entire affair… I am beginning to second guess myself. I also didn’t think the sex scenes were in any way necessary.
-Acting quality: [2 out of 5] Extras can’t act. The most impressive performance in this movie for me was Ken Erics partly because I was kind of getting bored with the execution of the movie until he appeared in a grand flashback scenario. John Dumelo did as John Dumelo does. Sam Dede lit up the screen. I wasn’t as excited to see him as I was to see Ken. He seems to be alongside Tonto a lot these days, huh? Eka Aribia, the new face. Nice name (I wonder if she was lucky enough to have that as her real name gan gan). I have to say that she is not a great actress, she is not that good of an actress. She is just ok. Which is more than I can say of most of the new (quote on quote) “talents” in the industry. Even some of the experienced ones aren’t at the level of ok yet. Eka seemed to be forcing it a bit and overdoing it. I think if she lets it flow naturally she will definitely get better and with practice on her side (and torture on the viewer’s side) she will definitely get better.
-Setting: [2 out of 5] Noticed how I split the setting and make up? I thought it was necessary. I thought the sets for this movie were pretty mediocre. Not a lot of effort put into it apparently
-Costume/Make-Up: [1 out of 5] Most of the help were sweating from scene to scene for starters. The royal regalia was… everything but royal looking. And they forgot to cover up Tonto’s neck make-up cos as you would have guessed, it was not appropriate for her role.
-Props and Graphics: [2 out of 5] On Point
-Video Quality: [2 out of 5] Ok
-Audio Quality [1 out of 5] The lip syncing was not well done at all.
-Soundtrack: [2 out of 5] I wasn’t a fan but then again it wasn’t terrible.
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Nicely done
What’s up colleagues, how is all, and what you want to say on the topic of this article, in my view its in fact amazing designed for me.
Its a 2010 flick…pls let’s pass dat verdict wen we av seen a 2012 flick…
As of lately, i too have been doubting myself of how highly i thought of Tchidi…but now i think the problem is that he’s just stagnant. He’s still doing his same ole same ole but we have moved on to bigger and better in Nooly. We expect more. If i didn’t watch some Bolly..i would have No ideas what you were talking about sometimes…But this seems like a good movie
lol… I see you caught my Bollywood reference. I try to confuse people as much as I possible can lol.
