Holding Hope
adia Buari, Desmond Elliot, Uche Jombo, Rukky Sanda, Abiola Segun Williams, Ngozi Nwosu, Moyo Lawal, Ken Odurukwe, Emeka Duru
The self-absorbed son of a successful business woman resents the financial restrictions imposed upon him by his mother's new financial director and crafts a plan with his greedy girlfriend to get rid of her.
"Which of the men promised you marriage? I hope you know that there are two types of men in a man. The one up here and the man down there" - Ngozi Nwosu "If you think you are going to scheme me into eating that food --- that has flavour equivalent of sandpaper -- then you must be kidding" - Desmond Elliot
Holding Hope part 1 and part 2
Desmond Elliot
Emem Isong, Uche Jombo
Amazing performance from Uche Jombo
Poor production
-Story: [4 out of 5] It’s really a lovely storyline… for the first time since I joined irokotv+, the membership has made itself useful… Thank God!
-Originality: [2 out of 5] For the most part it was made up of motifs that we had seen before
-Predictability: [1 out of 5] The end was a given…
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] There were very obvious signs of potentially great cinematography within this movie… at least more cinematography than your average Nollywood movie has.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] Desmond did his thing in this movie. Uche Jombo! Oh dear Uche… in the beginning I was thinking “…hmm I just might have liked Mercy Johnson’s cancer performance in “Before the Light” better”. But by the end of the movie… as I was bawling like a crazed woman, my opinion had definitely changed. Uche carried the emotions magnificently. Nadia the seductress, all I have to say is FIRE! whhaaat… girl fine sha o. Biola Segun Williams (I almost typed Segun Arinze there lol) did a good job especially for a first timer. You might remember her as the mother to Joseph Benjamin’s character in “Spellbound“. Am I the only one who felt that in part one… Desmond and Nadia were alternating some semi-fake Americano accent? Anyways… Ngozi Nwosu was hilarious as always. Guest appearance by Rukky Sanda. Guest appearance by Bola Aduwo of NollywoodUncut. The one person who impressed me the most (in comparison with her usual work) was Moyo Lawal. A while ago I reviewed “His Royal Majesty“, a movie in which she played yet another ashawo role. See, prior to His Royal Majesty I’d seen Moyo Lawal in many ‘ashawo’ roles and honestly I could not tell whether or not she could act all I knew is that she needed to stop it… right now! Enough with the sluttiness. If you had asked me then whether the babe could act I would have probably rolled my eyes at you but after this… fashee the babe can act. Woe to me for even imagining that I could class her alongside Beverly Naya… well done. Ah! Moyo killed it though. And then there was this girl (ghen ghen)… the girl with the American accent outside the American hospital scene in the parking lot? What? Na from where them thief you come? Please… who told anyone that this girl can act?
-Setting: [2 out of 5] Good… I didn’t think the Badmus’ residence was that grand really (at least not as grand as Moyo’s character made it out to be)
-Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] Oh My Dayz…. Nadia’s outfits! That is all… wait… no… that’s not all… not like the outfits were out of this world (like “where is your shop, I want to buy my own too” amazing? no) but it was the way they looked on her. Ngozi did an amazing job picking out her seductress wardrobe
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] On Point but Nnaa… whose idea was it to insert the ghost in the last scene? I didn’t think that was necessary. See me sef… as I dey dere dey cry dey go only for me to see a ghost in the corner…beaming light from her chest in her all white outfit… I couldn’t help the laughter.
-Video Quality: [2 out of 5] Couldn’t understand why suddenly the color and hue would just change when it wasn’t a flashback/dream or anything of the sort
-Audio Quality [1 out of 5] The voices were out of sync a lot… timbres kept changing left and right
-Soundtrack: [4 out of 5] Amazing! Slam is a musical genius and Ego’s “Bia Nulu” (which is a cover of Onyeka Onwenu’s original song with the same title) is embedded above
-Musical Score: [4 out of 5] Austine Erowele sha… no one can do it quite like him.

Hey Adi, the song is called “Bia Nulu”. The original song was done by Onyeka Onwenu a couple of years back but this is a cover done by Ego for this movie 🙂
Excuse I know you have done this review some review some time ago but could you please tell me the title of that song you posted. I am desperately looking for it.

Awwww….Nice movie esp the part when Nadia was blabbing about her achievements in 5 years..
Haha… I loved that scene and the camera action. Very well done.

OMG! I sincerely apologize. Now watching…
YOU DO A GOOD JOB HERE O. I EALLY SHOULD VISIT UR SITE MORE. MIGHT MAKE ME WATCH NAIJA MOVIES.
Hian… Dianah sef… you can like to carry last lol jk
Thank youuuuuuuuu! And you SHOULD. You definitely should
(visit the site more AND watch Naija movies) 🙂
Great movie. I’m finally happy my $5 on Iroko is working. But the audio was way too horrible.
Uche Jumbo IS GREAT. Nadia Buhari should really relax on her fake phone. Was surprised at her “why you dey shout”, she sounded better than all other times I have heard her put together. And Desmond is as Desmond does (tongue-in-cheek, wink wink). Biola Segun Williams plays Titi Kagbesioye on MNet’s Tinsel and she’s really good, so wont consider her a first timer.
BTW, Bia Nu is originally by Onyeka Onwenu. Great reproduction by Ego however.
But na wa for you sha. You manage mention Beverly for inside here. I agree she can’t act to save her life, but I beg small small. Or is she the new yardstick for bad acting? You know like; on a scale of Beverly, how bad is …….?
About the $5, I’m telling you… I was about to cancel next month… the audio was something
Haha… I actually noticed that her pidgin. It sounded more natural the first time she said it than it did the second time.
Oh well… we over here have zero access to Tinsel and I presumed she was new cos they said “Introducing Abiola Segun Williams”
Oooh! Thank God… I was just searching for it on YouTube. Although, I like the Ego version better though… it sounds better slower
Haha… Yes! Lol jk it’s cos it’s a RAA production and Bev broke out with RAA but she is definitely my yardstick for all RAA outputs… “you’re not a great actress but compared to Bev… I’ll take u anyday” lol that kain tin
Uche Jombo OMG I give up this girl is an actress I have seen Nollywood hustlers, jealous husband, damage and now holding hope I like her choice of roles… Different roles ….I love Ngozi nwaosu ooooooooo lol the man up here or the man down there this is a great movie…
