-Story: [1 out of 5] If you ask me… if you ask me… if you ask me.. .(Omawumi voice: “Na who I go ask”? lol no not today)… I would say, I really can’t find the story in this movie… but I’m certain there was a story because everyone around me whilst watching this movie was delightfully thrilled (for some reason). Yes it has a framework story but…. as I tell una I know sabi review comedy film cos the way I see it… every other scene was unnecessary, every other thing was overly prolonged and every other act was unrealistic. I keep having to remind myself that the standards for Osuofia films are different… viewers don’t watch for the story, they watch for the humor and where humor is concerned… I guess one could classify this as moderately humorous (and no I’m not using American standards o… this one is in comparison with ‘Keziah’ which I am currently watching)
-Originality: [1 out of 5] Origi-who? Kai! Who send me to review a comedy film now… don’t they just do the same thing in all their movies? The same silliness… the same mme-gheli… the same orisirisi? But I guess… the army twist and the supernatural thing (as regards Uche’s character) was different?
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] Alright… some things we can’t excuse with over explanation… what it is is what it is… Nollywood comedies tend to be predictable.
-Directing/Editing: [1 out of 5] Six parts? Seriously? SIX whole PARTS? Maka what??? What are you acting? What story are you telling that needs one two three four five SIX parts to conclude? This movie was directed by Charles Inojie… prior to 2012 (in film), I thought he was an actor only but apparently he directs too. This is his second directorial work I’ve seen (the first was “Rejected Princess“). There should have been subtitles in the scenes where some characters would randomly go off in the igbo language, for non-igbo speakers.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] So… no matter what nonsense I say about Nigerian comedies, there is one thing I’d be an idiot to deny and that is the shear genius that is Nkem Owoh… omo the guy sabi act. It is not a question that he can act. His flexibility is as undeniable as his humor. No be today eem start and he’s a true asset to our industry as a whole. Uche Ogbodo… killed it! Usually, I don’t pay attention to her and her movies (mainly because they are comedies and I don’t watch comedies) but this time… I thought she was good. She carried her role out well perfectly. Was amazingly convincing and did a general job well done.
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Appropriate…
-Costume/Make-Up: [2 out of 5] I don’t understand why Uche’s character ‘Happiness’ had that much make up on. What was the point? I mean… she is playing the role of a VILLAGE GOOD GIRL so in which village does a good girl pile on pancake on her face like that? Another thing that stood out and made no sense to me was the scar on the face of one of the touts… (the one that got beat by Happiness)… I mean one day he has big red blotches on his forehead… next scene his face is back to normal. Omo na so una dey take heal? Let me hold some of that miracle cream real quick…
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Video Quality: [2 out of 5] I couldn’t understand the hue but it was ok
-Audio Quality [3 out of 5] Ok
-Soundtrack: [3 out of 5] On point
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Well done
