In the TV series 24, the story is written in a way that each episode is one hour in the characters’ lives. Looking at the synopsis of this movie, I felt excited and intrigued. A diva’s life, surely it will be juicy and interesting. How wrong I was. This movie has four parts and some parts take place in a single day. One day. This made it torture to watch and I honestly couldn’t make it to the end; many times I opened it on YouTube but could not bring myself to play it. One must only try that tactic with sense, tact and skill.
The plot was no better. It was so slow and had this strange paradox…lots of things were happening but nothing was happening. They kept introducing limp storylines and even limper scenes. Scenes were too long (one was over ten/fifteen minutes or at least it felt like it) and poorly edited, pointless and seemingly out of random. The characters made stupid decisions with no logic at all to them, acted in ways that human beings do not, acted in ways neither I nor the people I was watching it with could understand. Sometimes, when I watch a bad movie I always think of ways to ‘repair’ the damage but in this case I could only conclude that this plot did not need to exist. It devolved into a mess.
Chika Ike is not my best actress or even in my top 20 and she failed to impress here.Overacted, and underacted at the same time. She would deliver an emotional line with blank face or the wrong expression. Frank Artus was not likeable at all, and that was what the role called for…although he may have taken it too far. Cha-cha Eke was sporting some razz red wig thing and that distracted me from her performance. Tessy is slowly becoming more visible in Nollywood and I wish her the best, she can act so the quicker she escapes the runs girl thing the better. The boy who acted the journalist was a good actor and we need more of those oh. Most of the extras were either wooden or overacted.
The music was dreary and sounded really bad. At times it was too loud and other times, it was too long. The soundtrack was no better, it sounded like a bad 2003 soundtrack.
In conclusion, when even curiosity cannot carry me to the end of a film then there is a problem. If you see this movie on the roadside, cross the road and take off.
I can’t rili say if you are an educated journalist/critic but this work really speaks poorly of you. 1st and formost you quoted ab initio that chika ike is nt one of ur fav actresses(inessense u don’t like her acting). This has single handedly clouded ur judgment and puts u in d wrong postion to critic d movie,n rembr our concerrn is not ur prefrence but what is evident. Esp when you stated that you did not sit through to d end. This being a must forr a critic no matter how poor the book or movie is, you have failled in ur work on that basis. 2ndly, u have laid no logical background to any of the shalow points u stated.merely talking about the soundtrack and overacting. Stated artus’ unlikeable xter. I’m gd ur unproffesionalism allowd u understand that it was the xter, now where in d world hv u pointout a person so unlikeable that u can draw a line. I bliv ghadafi did not draw a line. And evn if. Artus playd. A role dat could be directly linkd to such a person, ur utter dislike of. The movie which stopd u frm doin ur job 100percnt would have made you say he took it too far. Pls ma’am do a better job nxt time. Urs sincerrely; A Fan
