Black Beauty
Nollywood REinvented
-Story: [0.5 out of 5] I think it’s fair to say that it’s about time we stopped telling these stories. I mean, it’s 2012 and we’re still telling these redundant predictable as hell “Royal Deal” types that that should have died with the Era of Pete Edochie and Hilda Dokubo. If it was done in a good manner sef it would have been more palatable… but this? This is just annoying.
-Originality: [0.5 out of 5] No! No!! Noooo… stop it!
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] Extremely
-Directing/Editing: [1 out of 5] The entire movie was a drag, yet they were able to extend it to four parts? First of all… it’s in four parts! Secondly, it was not entertaining… it was annoying! If you make it past part one of this movie, I’ll clap for you…
-Acting quality: [1 out of 5] Oh God! Where do I even start? Two real actors in this movie: Mama G and Muna Obiekwe (o tito). I’m ecstatic that Muna seems to be breaking away from the slutty roles. God willing, he might return to acting sane roles. Prince Eke and his ‘men in black’ entourage were literally just adding salt to injury for me from scene to scene with that their so called acting. Zubby Micheal! Alright I realize that he plays the role of a disabled boy/prince/man and a normal person should simply feel pity for him/his character… but somehow somehow, he was still able to transcend this obvious pity that I should have been feeling and succeed in irritating the living daylight out of me (this is probably because the memory of him in “Twins on Fire” is still fresh in my mind and anything he does that is short of perfection will make me want to stone him). Rukaya Mashoud, aka the girl from “The Three Widows” returns in this failed Nollywood flick (is it just me or is this babe in every movie that aggravates me?… too soon to tell). As regards her acting skills, I can best describe it in two words “well rehearsed”. It doesn’t quite feel like acting to me yet, she just seems like a poster child for ‘practice makes perfect’ (i.e “look at me, I’ve been doing this in front of the mirror over and over again”)
