A different role for Majid
The storyline has an annoying turn of events
-Story: [2 out of 5] Ewooo… I reject Nkem Owoh(‘s character) as my father in Jesus Name (you better say Amen for yourself too o). Anyways back to the story… to state it simply I wouldn’t have watched this movie if not for Majid’s inclusion in it. Apart from Majid the only other reason I kept on watching (even though I knew what was going to happen in the end) was Osuofia’s humor. So if you simply want to see an amazing actor and to crack up at Mr. Owoh’s jokes, then by all means. But if you’re looking to be inspired? You don jam roadblock be that
-Originality: [0 out of 5] *EH!* All I have to say is just that… “eh!”. It’s nothing I’ve not seen before. In fact I wasn’t expecting anything new after the synopsis. Maybe there was a very tiny minute bit of me that was clenching to some false hope that due to the amazing names in cast and crew for this movie that there might be some phenomenal twist to the storyline but… eh! There was no difference, same old, same old.
-Predictability: [0 out of 5] From head to toe… from head to toe. Usually, it would be maybe a calm father acting alongside Patience Ozokwor. So it would be the mother that is all gra-gra for the money and the father that is chill but this time the roles were reversed… and that was the only new thing in this movie
-Directing/Editing: [3 out of 5] It was directed by Mr. Imasuen. I have no complaints. The cinematography was not earth shattering (in a good or bad way) but it was good enough to not be a major factor (or should I say ‘deterrent’). A two part movie…. for which I’m always thankful.
-Acting quality: [3 out of 5] We have a movie starring an AMAA award winner, the king of Nollywood comedy and a woman that I’m growing more and more fond of each day, in the person of Mrs. Ezeonu. Now everybody else wasn’t torturous neither were they all exceptional. Barry Luke needs to be more convincing and I’d expect more from him considering that out of all the other extras, he was the one…. hmm… ‘rephrase’… he is the one who appears to have had the most experience in film. The lady that plays sister Onyinye needs to learn how to act: Just because you are playing a nun doesn’t mean that your acting starts with the sign of the cross and ends in saying ‘Holy Mary’. I was actually quite impressed by the lady who played ‘Elizabeth’. In the beginning, it was ‘bleh’ but as the film progressed you realize she’s not as terrible as she appears to be from the get go.
-Setting: [3 out of 5] Ok
-Costume/Make-Up: [3 out of 5] Absolutely loved loved loved Majid’s traditional attire. Looked like something by Yomi Casual. Nna we’re making waves with men’s traditional attire in Africa though. Once upon a time, men’s trad began with senegalese and ended with kaftan (I think those are the same thing… I’m not sure I wouldn’t know) but now it’s actually becoming trendy to wear trad.
-Props and Graphics: [3 out of 5] Not bad
-Video Quality: [4 out of 5] Well done
-Audio Quality [2 out of 5] Changing timbre
-Soundtrack: [3 out of 5] Good
-Musical Score: [3 out of 5] Nicely done
Oh and its in Igbo too which is a plus for you so you’ll enjoy it!!
If you love Ngozi’s movies you should definitely see her old movies like Nneka the Pretty Serpent, I saw it online on http://www.bunitv.com, just search for it . They also have other old movies like Conspiracy starring Onyeka Onwenu and Nkem Owoh. If you are a Nollywood classic fan, you’ll love this site. Perhaps you could start reviewing oldies too but do not expect anything fantastic with the cinematography though the story line is usually very catchy, o and their dressing too, just beautiful. Do check it out and tell me what you think.
Lol, I would review old movies but I don’t think that would be fair to the movies so I’ll abstain
