“The thing about Pascal Amafor movies is you don’t know what is happening in the film until the end”
‘Letters to my mother’ is a movie that explores the past life of a psych patient, the decisions that got him there and how they unfolded from stage to stage.
Like I said earlier, the thing is that you never know what exactly is happening in a Pascal movie until the end and you might dare to guess but odds are your guess might be wrong, but it might also be right. I won’t call this movie overly suspenseful or the most thrilling film in the market but it does a great job of disguising the same old story in fancy new clothes.

Before realizing that this was a Pascal film, two things stood out for me (or should I say 2 people): John Dumelo and Adjetey Anang. Adjetey was my assurance that no matter how bad the other actors were, someone would at least be able to hold it down which he did very well. Although I’m not too sure about that accent of his, but that’s a matter for another day.
Going into this movie, one question on my mind really was ‘what will John do with the character’? Will he be able to pull off a psych patient? Will he be convincing? Or will John Dumelo do as John Dumelo does?
I can’t say that John was phenomenal in his rendition of a psych patient, although I do give him that final-blood-licking-scene, but asides from that John almost did as John does. However, John put more into this character than he has in a very long while and for that I am more than grateful.
Between Kafui Danku and Paulina Oduro, I was very confused. Because there were seems in which it seemed both ladies were doing the absolute most and forcefully over-acting line after line, scene after scene. But then there were those scenes where it seemed to come naturally. It seemed Paulina had more of the natural scenes though and Kafui more of the forceful scenes. Kafui almost reminds me of Martha Ankomah, a comparison I wish to push very very far away from my thoughts because that’s a bad place to start to me.
Oh my! I can’t understand why they keep calling Mr. Watson back to continue this display of God-knows-what he calls ‘acting’. Alright, I won’t lie, Eddie wasn’t as terrible as usual in this movie but that’s not to say he suddenly transformed to Majid. There’s definitely room for improvement but I think this is the best I’ve ever seen him.
Can’t finish this without mentioning the genius that is Bernie Anti, see the two soundtracks in other tab

Nice review as usual. I see you are more charitable these days. Lol…But you know what usually you are right. At the end, it all that matters.
