The movie was extremely long, the plot was a bit unrealistic at times
Lately I’ve been very reluctant to watch films that surpass two parts. Usually due to the fact that if it exceeds two parts it is usually longer than it needs to be and the story is dragged on unnecessarily. This movie proved my point.
Italy (Muna Obeikwe) and Piso (Prince Eke) did extremely well portraying graduates who were struggling to find a job constantly undergoing unfortunate events despite their degrees. The movie was extremely hilarious because of the dialogue between them however their discussions of poverty did become quite redundant. We then became introduced to 3 prostitutes who were barely surviving. One of the girls Cindy meets an old friend Susan (Mercy Johnson) who apparently found her a rich man and is living well off with a truck and a large house. Susan offers to allow Cindy and the other two girls live in the house in order to pretend they are rich and trap rich men. Italy and Piso also find jobs as gateman. Piso becomes the gateman to Susan and Italy to another household.
This film was extremely lengthy. 5 hours that could have been shortened to two. One of the issues was the fact that movie focused entirely too much on every single character. Even though some characters did need introductions, some scenes were highly unnecessary. The movie had too many focuses. The story of poverty, switched to the women finding rich men, and then Italy pretending to be rich and having all the women falling love with him, and finally, Italy seeking revenge against all the women who wronged him when he was poor. The plot was somewhat original and highly unpredictable, but scattered. However, Mercy, Muna, and Prince Eke gave very strong performances,
The plot was also highly unrealistic at times. For example, when Italy begins to pretend he is rich and falls in love with one of the girls he asks to marry her, after 4 days. Which kind love be that one? Plus throughout the movie as Italy stays in a hotel to pretend that he is getting a house built, how is he paying for the hotel? Obviously that gateman job couldn’t have allowed him too. Where did all the expensive clothing come from? I also was confused how two of the girls Cindy and Sofia met Italy and Piso previously, but did not recognize them just because they wore better clothing.
At times the sound and picture weren’t in sync and the camera was jilted. There were also many awkward camera zooms to different objects. The makeup was too over the top. Green contacts? I couldn’t understand. The scene transitions were also choppy.
The movie could have been a lot more interesting if scenes had been edited and some of the plot cut out. But some of the performances made the film worthwhile.
I just do not like movies that are unnecesarily long. 4 parts? *not interested*
