COMING SOON: Deafening Silence

Directed by Biodun Stephen, the story centers on gender based violence in Nigeria. It aims to keep Nigerians on edge, agitate their mind, and invoke important lessons about Gender-Based violence issues in the society.

The EU-UN and SPORTLIGHT initiative, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and Foundation for Resilient Empowerment and Development collaborated to bring this movie to the screens.

Produced by Emem Isong Misodi, the movie features a stellar cast: Chidi Mokeme, Kate Henshaw, Bimbo Akintola, Toni Tones, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Femi Jacobs, Derby Felix, Ekamma Etim-Inyang and many others.

The movie portrays the act and consequences of Gender Based Violence in a typical Nigerian society. The Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission, Charles Ebuebu has announced the commission’s commitment to actively combat and raise awareness against gender-based violence aiming to decrease its prevalence in the country. Mr. Ebuebu elaborated that the broadcast media serves as a crucial platform for conveying the anti-gender basted violence message, emphasizing its role in shaping ideas, policies and public perception.
