Amazing cast. Interesting Narrative
-Story: [4.5 out of 5]
I was really struggling with the rating for storyline for this movie (as you can see I settled on the half way line) mostly because I liked the story. It was a good story, it was a different storyline, it was endearing and all but it was not gripping. I could stand up, go do something else and come back hours later and continue. The fact that I returned to the movie is a good thing, but the fact that I was able to stand up in the first place is the problem. You want a movie that holds your attention, this movie doesn’t do that. However, it is entertaining.

I am yet to see a movie with this exact concept before. I’m not certain if this based on historical events or historically accurate, regardless it’s different, and it sets itself apart from every other movie. Which probably explains why this movie was the AMAA award winner for Best Nigerian Film in 2012
-Predictability: [3 out of 5]
It was very comme ci comme ca. I mean, bad guys always lose and good guys always win. The exception, is when the opposite is the case. Thankfully, it wasn’t in this movie. Hence, this movie retains a certain amount of predictability.
-Acting quality: [4.5 out of 5]
So I’m watching this movie and not one person is incapable of acting. Not the guards, not the maids, not the wakapasses, not the chiefs. Which is more than I’m able to say about most movies. The question in this movie is not of whether or not the actors are capable of acting but to what degree can they act?
I was most excited about Olu Jacobs’ role. I was more than ecstatic to finally see him in a role actually befitting of his status and talent. Enough with all those pointless king roles in these useless Asaba movies. He did an impeccable job alongside Ngozi Ezeonu as Ezomo.
Can not but give credit to Adesuwa herself, played by Iyobosa Olaye, even if at first she did not seem to me like the physical fit for the role, her acting definitely convinces you otherwise. Have never seen her in a movie before but she does such an amazing job in this one that I’ll definitely be on the look out for her.
Bob Manuel Udokwu, who usually irks me in his movies, did not irk me so much in this film but then again neither did he excite me. Love Kofi Adjorlolo, there’s a certain energy he brings to the screen. And everyone involved did a great job.

It would have been higher for this category but I just couldn’t understand why every time a person’s head was chopped off, there was a large hollow space in their neck. Like it was a bottle filled with blood and lacking in other internal structures. Speaking of blood, the blood-splattering graphics were also terribly off.

Adesuwa is available on YouTube to watch free right now. Honestly this movie is brilliant. But I say one thing in the world over if there historical events it never match up to how dramatic the event was or is told by one’s grandparents or parents. I am Bini person from Edo state I can authoritatively state that events in the movie was historically accurate. but not as dramatic as it really happened. I think that story needed more depth and time but all the same it is better than most Nigerian movies of today and I believe this movie can be the building block to establish better movies and more people to invest into the movie industry. I give credits to the whole cast. and person in charge of photograph captured the movie as an era where full vivid coloured photographs were not it was mostly sepia coloured or semi colours or black and white photographs. Bob Manuel for me didn’t quite fit his character well even though he was good. I think he needed to stay in Edo State more read up more on his character and do more research. because he character in this movie. was a true multiple personality character he does not quite know himself. I have prior knowledge of the character and the story. But the movie was a great interpretation. well done to all cast and crew on the movie it truly deserved the award.
