One Blood

. A close family is torn apart by a woman who then persists to wreak havoc.
If you ask me to ‘gist’ you this film, as we used to do in our school days, I wouldn’t even know where to start. This is not a compliment. The way we perceive events is in a way that we can make some kind of logical sense of it, but here there was no logical sense.
The main storyline is quite simple and has been done countless times from the smallest to the biggest, from the amateur to the professional. A close family is torn apart by a woman who then persists to wreak havoc. It goes well until it just gets completely farcical. The main issue with the film is that it starts off as a drama, with reasonable characters that act reasonably then just takes a sharp turn into comedy. However by then it just seems like the characters have collectively lost their minds. Queen Nwokoye’s character may be, to date, the stupidest and most pathetic I have ever seen. Mike Ezuruonye’s character was nonsensical, after finding out that his wife has become pregnant for his brother, he then decides to spite both his brother and the girl by bringing her back to live with him. Bob Manuel’s character could have easily been the villain of this piece, he was manipulative and cruel and all the characters in this movie acted either stupidly or absurdly. The ‘twist’ at the end was lame and completely predictable. The only thing I can say that the movie was unpredictable in how bad it was.
The acting was good; it was one of the only things that made me watch the film to the end. Mike Ezuruonye, Ebele Okaro, Queen Nwokoye and Bob Manuel were on top of their game. There was nothing wrong with this and if you are the kind of person that does indeed enjoy these types of movies then this is will aid in your enjoyment.
The score was absolutely beautiful, it really was. It was appropriate and added emotion to the thing. The soundtrack was also good too. I am really digging the HD visuals that Irokotv are giving us these days.
In conclusion, I would definitely not recommend this movie. Definitely not. Its sharp turn from a nice and engaging drama to some farcical comedy was too much for me to handle. I had to force myself to watch it to the end for this review. By the way, it really stung me when the mother blames Queen Nwokoye for her, yes quite stupid, decision by saying men don’t have control. Why do we expect dogs to have more control of their sexual urges than from men? It is a bit offensive.
