Performances and part two
Part 1 and production quality
If this movie was good for one thing, it was watching these actors show us their crazy, untamed sides.
Nneka My Daughter is the story of a family with two wives where the husband married the second wife while seeking a male child. Many years later, all the children have grown up and Nneka, his first daughter from his first wife, is resolute to turn the household upside down because she believes she does not get respected.
This movie has two parts but you can just go ahead and skip part one because the entire thing is a series of fights, arguments, embarrassments, arguments and more fighting. The only concrete thing that happened was the death of one character which in itself was subsequently turned into a joke as it was preceded by more fights, arguments and embarrassments.
In the second part of the movie, the real story finally shows up. If the movie had led with this initially then it might have been a better movie and much more tolerable. However, after watching more than sixty minutes of nonsensical fighting, it is really hard to find the motivation to click part two and finally watch the story. In the second part of the movie, the true story comes out and attempts to save whatever is left of the movie.
Some benefits of this movie were definitely in the performances. Queen Nwokoye plays Nneka and earns her crown as the truest village champion queen of all times. It was interesting (initially at least) to watch her scenes with Chacha Eke because both actors brought a lot of fire and energy to the screen.
The audio was inconsistent in this movie and there were numerous typos in the subtitles amongst other faults. However, this would have been a much more palatable film if part two was part one, and part one was just deleted altogether.
Very good acting from the major casts.
None to me.
I like the movie.
